Groups affiliated with the United Nations, such as the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), have issued these recommendations about disease prevention and treatment.

Symptoms
Signs and symptoms of COVID-19 may appear two to 14 days after exposure. The period following exposure and preceding the onset of symptoms is called the "incubation period". Common questions and symptoms can include:

It may indicate another problem.

Other symptoms could be:

Muscle pain
Chills
Sore throat
Runny nose
Headache

This list is not exhaustive. Other, less common symptoms have been reported, such as skin rashes, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Children usually develop symptoms similar to adults, and their illness is generally mild. The severity of Covid 19 symptoms can range from very mild to severe. Some people may develop only a few symptoms, and some people may not have any symptoms at all. Some people may experience a worsening of symptoms, such as worsening shortness of breath and worsening pneumonia, about a week after symptoms begin.
Older people are at a higher risk of developing serious COVID-19 symptoms, and that risk increases as a person gets older. People with existing chronic medical conditions may be more likely to have severe symptoms. Examples of serious health conditions that increase your risk of developing severe COVID-19 symptoms include: Serious heart disease, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, or cardiomyopathy cancer
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) Type 2 diabetes Obesity or morbid obesity Smoking Chronic kidney disease Sickle cell disease Weakness of solid organ transplantation There are other cases, more attention to serious symptoms, such as: asthma Liver disease overweight Chronic lung disease, such as cystic fibrosis or pulmonary fibrosis Medical conditions related to the brain and nervous system Weak immune system, or certain medications Type 1 diabetes Hypertension This list is not exhaustive. There are other underlying conditions that may increase your risk of developing dangerous COVID-19 symptoms.

D_  The head of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said that the organization’s speed is using this term for two main reasons: the spread of infection and the expansion of global health science, "the deficiency that it follows at the level of political will to control this outbreak" of the virus.

Symptoms of COVID-19 are variable, but often include fever, cough, fatigue, breathing difficulties, and loss of smell and taste. Symptoms begin one to fourteen days after exposure to the virus. Around one in five infected individuals do not develop any symptoms.^[9] While most people have mild symptoms, some people develop acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) .

Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment.  Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.

The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes and how it spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by washing your hands or using an alcohol based rub frequently and not touching your face. 

The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes, so it’s important that you also practice respiratory etiquette (for example, by coughing into a flexed elbow).
