Neither side won the Korean War, they all agree to an armistice bringing the war to an end. But the US and their allies did succeed in preventing communism from overtaking South Korea. 2 effects of the war were that North Korea fell into poverty and could not keep up with South Korea's economic pace. And that the US and USSR were able to avoid direct confrontation and a nuclear conflict.

The Korean War was a proxy war because the North and the South of the country are fighting and the US and USSR are also involved. It was the first time that the two superpowers fought against each other in a third country. The US was with South Korea because they were against communism, and the Soviet Union was with North Korea because they encourage communism. The Korean War affected the US till this day, they changed the course of US and security policy. After the war, many alliances are still together and some countries are still enemies, like the US and Russia. After the war, communism was not spread as before, so fighting in that war made the Soviets give up on communism years after. The Korean War did not last for a long time, but it still caused a lot of deaths and economic problems
