Most children were very young, ranging from 4-12.<br>4. They worked in factories, mills, farms, and coal mines.<br>5. Children worked for very low wages as their employers wanted to pay.<br>6. They had the same painful, hard working conditions as adults.<br>7. They were responsible for completing their work, and some signed contracts for punishments.<br>8. Children were not treated well, overworked, and underpaid for their work.<br>9. They were paid for less than 20 cents a day for working full time.</div>]]></description>

In some occasions they didn't have to pay them, only supplied them with food and a place to stay.<br>5. Children knew how to follow instructions and were paid less.<br>6. They worked for longer hours but could be paid less than adults.<br>7. They didn't know how much they were being paid, and could easily be scammed.<br>8. They wanted children because of how easily they were willing to work.</div>]]></description>

There were 28 states who passed laws regulating child labor in 1899<br>7. Each state has their own minimum requirements for laws covering youth employment, such as the earliest age a child may be working and the number of hours a child is allowed to work during the day<br>8.
