         <title>SECOND OBSERVATION: 30!08!18</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>In the second class of observation after saying hello everybody and then the writing of the date by the teacher on the blackboard, she brings some photocopies with figures of different types of clothes. She shows each item to the group and tells them the name of it out loud and invites them to repeat the name. In this way she does it with different types of clothes. Then she ask them in both English and Spanish: who is wearing a skirt?, some girls say: me! ,who is wearing trousers? some boys shout: me! Then the teacher asks if she herself is wearing a cap and they answer: no!, and so on with several pieces of clothing. Then, Miss Noe invites them to cut the figures of clothes that are on the sheet that the helpers have distributed to all of them and invite to colour them. While doing this, the teacher plays some pop music on the stereo and the kids are pretty focused cutting and painting the figures, then writing their names behind the painted papers. In the meantime some of them come where I am and show me how they are painting. At the end of the class the teacher asks? did you finish? almost everyone says yes! so the teacher place the clothes painted on a billboard (see photo 2). Before leaving for taking a break, they sing a song about keeping the classroom tidy so they go and sing while tidying the whole place. Before leaving to take a break, the teacher tells them that tomorrow they will organize a puppet fashion show with the clothes they have painted and that she will give them a puppet to which they will give a name and they will dress with the clothes they have painted. </strong></div>]]></description>

         <title>FIRST OBSERVATION:  28!08!18                              The group is composed of Miss Noe and 15 students, mostly six year-old. They are 7 boys and 8 girls. Immediately after entering the class, the  teacher begins to sing with them the song &quot; Hello song&quot;. Then she tells the kids that today we have a visitor who is going to be with us several classes, so I am introduced and they greet me kindly. From time to time some of the children approach me asking me who I am and telling me their names. The welcome was very warm and that relaxed me a lot. After that they pass to an activity related to the weather.The teacher asks them how is the weather today and points out a poster on the wall asking them: Is it windy today? yes! they say. Is it sunny? No!, they reply and so on. Finally they sing a song: !it&#39;s cloudy and rainy and windy too!. Then the teacher chooses two students as helpers: From a bag, takes out the names of two students and she says that they will be her secretaries during the whole class.Then Miss Noe asks them to go to the shelf located in the corner of the classroom and take their class books. They are going to write something in them. She writes down the date and the weather on the board (see photo 1) and the children write it down in their classbooks.The teacher occasionally speaks to them in Spanish when the activity changes to another one or for calling the attention of one of the students. The last activity had to do with clothes and what we wear to get dressed. We will see this activity in the second observation.</title>

         <title>THIRD OBSERVATION: 31!08!18</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>The teacher starts the class singing with the children: </strong><em>everybody everybody please sit down, please sit down and listen up!</em><strong> several times. As the guys do not shut up, she says in a higher voice: </strong>one two three<strong>? </strong><strong><em>and they</em></strong><strong> answer: </strong>silence please!<strong> a couple of times until the kids get silent.<br>The teacher tells them that today is the fashion show class and ask them if they are ready. everybody shouts: Yes!.<br>The children had already trimmed the puppet and the clothes in the previous class that each one was going to wear in the fashion show. they had painted them and they stuck the clothes over the puppet (see photo) . they are ready to start the fashion show.<br>The teacher improvises a stage with a table in the classroom (see photo 3) and places the chairs around the classroom and the kids sat on the floor and then each kid goes out and says something like: Hi my name is Ash, I am wearing a cap, a t-shirt, shorts and shoes.<br>So each student went on stage and showed his/her puppet and said in English what the puppet was wearing.<br>The teacher had a bag with the names of the students and randomly drew a name of a student to go on stage and with a mixture of Spanish and English he said: </strong><strong><em>toca toca la suerte loca, crazy hands!</em></strong><strong> and took out the paper with the name of a child. Children really enjoy this moment and the chosen boy or girl goes on stage. Sometimes the teacher helps some students with what they have to say in English on the stage either because some do not know how to say it well or just because some of them are very shy.<br>Finally, when the fashion show ends, all the children tidy the tables and chairs and Miss Noe invites them to play ten minutes of afterwork activity in which they can play and talk without any instructions.Once this small break finishes, the teacher tells them to go to the shelf where the class books are, and to write down about the clothes that their puppet were wearing in the show.</strong></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>1- I chose and observed the particular child’s interactions with his teacher and with his peers, and the non-verbal and verbal communication that occured.<br>I tried to observe also if the new material given by the teacher was understood by the child and how the boy applied this new knowledge to the activity given in order to practice it. <br>2- I also observed how the child responded, if verbally or nonverbally (nodding, shaking head), to perform the teacher's request, e.g. if he wrote down in his class book what the teacher wrote in the board. <br>3- Finally, I observed some occasions to check if the child spoke in his first language  and/or in the English language, about his own actions and about the activities given in class..</strong></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>After returning from the garden where we were together with the students and with the teacher watching how they played, we returned to the classroom and the teacher started singing: "everybody please sit down please sit down..... and listen up", then the designed helpers distributed the workbooks to the rest of the students and the teacher asked to open the book on page 49 (also wrote it on the board)..The activity was about finding the solution to a problem of the best shelter for a person. The teacher told me to help one of the tables with 5 kids. I especially help Iris who is a girl easily frustrated, I indicated several options which would choose and she answered without problem until we could solve together the best option. the other kids at the table asked me to help them too. Then we went to another activity related to choose the correct order to dress a person, I also helped Iris and Gonzalo doing with them scaffolding by asking them: What is it first to dress a person: the scarf or the pullover.<br>.The main difficulty I found in the assistantship class was that when I wanted to help someone the other kids asked me if I could help them too so they lost a bit of initiative. The teacher realized this and then sang the song "everybody please sit down ..... they returned to their chairs and she clarified that everyone had to do the activity by themselves..<br>The bond with the children was very affectionate and they thanked me for helping them and being able to be with them.</strong></div>]]></description>

         <title>SECOND ASSISTANTSHIP: 14!09!18</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>The teacher started the class singing "the hello song" and then she asked them if today was Monday, the kids answered no, at the end she asked if it was Friday and they shouted !yes.<br>After that she asked how was the weather like and they answered correctly in English. Then she wrote down the date on the board and asked the students to copy it in the classbook. Then they began to do several activities in the workbook as a letter soup and a comprehension listening activity where the teacher said a number of figures and the children had to write the total number of them. The teacher asked me to be with two tables of 5 children each and see if they did the activities well. After finishing this activity she told them that they could paint the drawings that were in a page of the workbook and they could do it in the colors they wanted. She asked me to be with them watching how they did the activity. The kids worked very well focused in the listening activity and it was very striking how happy they were when the teacher told them that they could freely paint the drawings of the book.</strong></div>]]></description>

         <title>The group: Diagnostic.</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The 1st grade group that I observed in El Colegio del Sol consists of 15 children of 6 years, which 8 are boys and 7 are girls.  The group has a basic level of English and the interaction with their teacher Noelia is very fluent and they show a great bond with her who in most of the times speaks to them in English and some few times in Spanish. They do not seem to have comprehension problems when they are spoken in the second language and they seem to understand each slogan given in English. Some of them have a very good level of English like Jimmy whose father is North American and Keomi whose mother is Japanese. There are different personalities in the group, some of them very smart children to solve some activities like Lucas who has a great leadership ability or there are very shy guys like Facundo and Iris who need a lot of support to encourage them in working in the activities. Among them there is great solidarity, they are used to work in groups of 5 (the room is divided into three tables with 5 kids each) and they do not have serious problems in sharing their materials. I had very good acceptance between them and the teacher. They were surprised that a teacher (male) gave them class as they were used to female teachers. They were always very sympathetic and willing to work in all the activities that I proposed. A very special thanks to Miss Noe who was always willing to help me and was collaborative in all my activities.<strong><br></strong><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In the first class we learned and practiced with the names of farm animals. We also reinforce the vocabulary about colors. The class was about going to visit the animals on the farm, see their "dresses" of different colors and the kids chose an animal and expressed their favorite color. They also coloured a copy of the activity with the respective colours of the animals. At the end we watched a video "the animals on the farm" and tried to sing it together.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The aim in this class was to make a finger puppet of the animals of the farm and present it in a stage prepared in the class (see video) and then introduce their animal saying the name and parts of the body. We tried to elicit from the children the structure “has got” answering e.g:  “the duck has got two eyes. And in this way we reviewed the animals and different parts of the body they previously learnt. <br>The activity of making the puppet was very entertaining. They enjoyed a lot to introduce the puppet in the stage. It was difficult for some of them to use the structure has got. Anyway they enjoyed a lot with the puppet and we could reviewed the parts of the body </div><div><br></div><div> </div>]]></description>
