I wrote down Mr. Sawicki's name twice.”
This part reminded me of the friendship of Charlie and Mr. Anderson from The Perks of Being a Wallflower since in both situations the teacher took care of the student till something happened to them. In The Perks of Being a Wallflower, it was Charlie's suicidal episode and in Monster it’s Steve going to jail.

In this part, Briggs brings in people to make King seem innocent. He brings Dorothy Moore and George Nipping to the stand to put King somewhere not at the crime scene and not the killer. As for O'Brien, she brings Steve and Mr. Sawicki to testify. Steve denies everything about the crime while his teacher says that Steve is honest not to lie of his involvement.
