She is credited with developing the communications system during WWII, which still remains essential to this day!&nbsp;<br><br>This book aligns with "The House that Lou Built" by highlighting women in STEM (pg.2), the theme of underestimation (pg.166), determination (pg.90), and living a secret life (pg. 52-53). Lou is a young female secretly working on a building project, and so is Hedy Lamarr. Many people in the books underestimate them due to their careers, gender, and age. &nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>

Emily's husband was the chief engineer of the Brooklyn bridge, utilizing new techniques and engineering feats. During the construction of the bridge, her husband becomes extremely ill and ends up bedridden for the remainder of the work. Emily utilizes the knowledge she learns from her husband to supervise the building of the Brooklyn Bridge, helping to construct such an&nbsp;iconic landmark.<br><br>This book aligns with "The House that Lou Built" by highlighting women in STEM (pg. 2), working on a secret project (pg.52-53), highlighting different engineering feats (pg.51), and taking your life into your own hands (pg. 164). Throughout the book, Lou ventures to different iconic landmarks such as the Golden Gate bridge and Emily builds the iconic Brooklyn bridge. Both women go through a journey to learn and apply the engineering process to projects that many people believe they cannot achieve. </div>]]></description>

Chang is tasked with returning Sorya the Sun Bear back to her habitat in the wild.&nbsp;<br><br>This book aligns with "The House that Lou Built" by showing a young girl with determination (pg. 90), beating the odds and proving others wrong (pg. 166), and utilizing the research step within the engineering model to gain knowledge to achieve their goals and dreams (pg. 63, 73, and 78). Both Chang and Lou are determined to achieve their goals and work hard to achieve those goals, utilizing STEM and other engineering steps to achieve them.</div>]]></description>

But the gingerbread houses have guidelines, the winning house must stand upright on its own and a gingerbread boy and girl must fit inside the house. This story follows a team as they struggle to create the perfect gingerbread house. This book is a great example that sometimes our prototypes do not end out as we had hoped. But that we can always overcome our problems, plan, and try again.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>This book aligns with “The House that Lou Built” by Even though both houses gingerbread and tiny house do not turn out in the end (pg. 198 &amp; 206), Both characters are determined (pg. 90) to try again and not give up on their ideas. Both books showed the testing process, and how sometimes the first idea you have may not turn out, but that is not reason to give up.</div>]]></description>

Many of her fellow students tease her, but she doesn't let that affect her. Violet decides to compete in the upcoming air show, and maybe win the respect of her fellow peers.&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>This book aligns with “The House that Lou Built” by in the beginning of the book, a few of loose classmates make fun of her for her expansive imagination (pg.13). But Lou looks past all this and continues to work towards her goals of building her tiny house. Even when it seems that your idea is not going to happen, it may just be the beginning.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>This book aligns with “The House that Lou Built” by highlighting a young person with an idea, and their determination to see their idea come to fruition (pg. 90). Lou has and imagination that aids her idea of her tiny house (pg. 11 &amp; 13), She comes up with many different aspects and ideas of her tiny house that she wants to implement.
