Mirror: Braxton served as a mirror for me in the book because the students he was close to at Crenshaw shared their problems with him and those problems became his problems. There was never a dull moment because his character was always in the midst of trying to resolve an issue, which is what I can relate to.

Mirror moment: My mirror moment was throughout the whole book with Braxton because of how he cared for all of these kids. He was able to empathize with a lot of students and you could tell how much he really cared about the students in his school.
Mirror: One mirror for me is in the first part of the book during one of Little's classes. She explains why she is passionate about teaching students about ethics. She says her goal is to "Use the literature we study here as an instrument to make you see the importance of valuing all human life..." (Corwin 76). This is a mirror for me because I'm also passionate about ethics and equality.

Mirror: The author's attempts to teach the students while Little is absent serves as a mirror moment for me. Corwin tries and fails to emulate Little and captivate the students with a lecture, but he feels morally obligated to help in some way so he continues trying (Corwin 345). While it's difficult to step out of my boundaries, it's even more grating to watch something fall apart and not fix it.

Window: I can now realize how someone like Olivia has managed to get this far in life, considering her circumstances. She built an uncaring, aloof persona because she had no one to share her feelings with, so she convinced herself that she didn't need to. While her therapist said that it wasn't healthy to act like that, it allowed her to continue with her arguably insane lifestyle (Corwin 313).

Mirror: A mirror moment for me was when the author described Tommie Smith's impact on Danielle's education. I have parents who really care about my education and want me to get good grades. This situation is exactly like Tommie Smith putting pressure on Danielle to get good grades. (Corwin 274)

Though they may be hard to keep up with it still shows that your parents care for you.(Corwin 198)

Window: seeing Olivia struggle with her parents not being good role models in her life, let alone in her life at all, was a window moment for me.
a mirror for me was Olivia's story in the beginning because I've always been really independent and I don't get on great with my mama and it creates this huge divide in our relationship. olivia takes care of her own car and pays for all of the expenses just like I do. I had to pay for my own car and although my parents pay for insurance, I paid for my car and continue to pay for gas, repairs, and other things.

Window; my window moment was when the author told the story of the kid who passed away at the very beginning of the book in the same kid would’ve graduated with the senior class he was reporting about in the rest of the book. I found it very interesting about how small the world was in this scenario and how one thing can affect the rest of peoples lives.
