Andre Lorde- Uses of Anger and Eye to Eye(Anger and Rage). "the indelible and dehumanizing portraits of Amos 'n Andy in your daddy's humorous bedtime stories."
This artifact speaks on the protest against the "Amos 'n Andy" television show, and how it was beginning to make progress with getting the show abandoned at the end of its 13-week contract period.
First and foremost this artifact itself, identifies with the entire reading of The Use of Anger! But more specifically this artifact identifies with my allusion I chose because it speaks on the protest of the Amos 'n Andy show. It tells the audience how this show was used to describe Negros as "inferior, dumb, lazy, and dishonest." The reading by Lorde directly allude to this artifact because she mentions in the reading how white women say they want to better their relationships with black women, yet they choose to deal with only a selected few of blacks. White woman wanted "better" yet they still laughed and indulged in the racist jokes and comments. They still became disgusted if a Negro was to sit a little too close to them. This translate directly to the artifact because it talks about how the Amos 'n Andy show may have supplied employment for a few Negros, it also casted aspersions on all Negros. This artifact represents the reading in an outstanding manner. Andrew Lorde was telling the people to embrace their anger and allow it to become their voice. That's what I envisioned happening in this article. An action was being taken, there were protest led by the president of the NAACP. The people were angry and the days of being silent, or allowing things such as Amos 'n Andy bypass was over.
The reading I choose creates a perspective on this artifact because I already have in mind that this was a time frame in which a new voice was needed to be derived. A new attitude was being birth, and encouraged to be embraced by all of the people. That attitude was anger! So in reading the artifact on banning the Amos 'n Andy show, it painted the pictures of the anger Lorde was experiencing. The people were taking a stand and fighting for what was right.
This reading narrates this artifact by taking the audience through a visual tour in feeling the many different ways of why the people were and should have been angry. The artifact follows up by taking that anger and putting it to work, hence getting the Amos 'n Andy show banned from American television.

Memphis World: "Amos 'N' Andy" Ban
Memphis World.

Maria W. Miller Steward- Why Sit Ye Here and Die?
In the lecture that Maria Steward delivered at Franklin Hall, there were many interesting and valid points covered exposing the problems of segregation, racism and equality. Maria finger points a lot of problems and directly allude them to other people, places, or things. "No; they first made powerful efforts to raise themselves, and then God raised up those illustrious patriots, WASHINGTON and LAFAYETTE, to assist and defend them." This was one of the allusions from Maria's lecture that stood out to me most. Maria was discussing how she felt that the oppression of prejudice, ignorance and poverty will soon come to an end. But it will only be through the American people, (Blacks, Whites, ect.) standing up and fighting for their rights. This allusion was her discussion on how the early pilgrims did not allow the Britons to sustain power over them, how they yearned for change and freedom, then fought for it.
A history of the revolutionary war, is an artifact that informs its audience on how George Washington help led the United States to a victory in the war against the Britons. It teaches us though General Washington lost more battles than he had won, though he had little to no experience in leading a large Army in the field. Washington still remained focused, strategic and ambitious to win his country the freedom that they deserved.
This artifact relates to the allusion above because the allusion throws Washington as an example of how the pilgrims did not just come to the shores, and continue to allow the Britons to have all money and power. It alludes directly to how Washington and Lafayette were ones to help assist and defend the patriots powerful efforts to rise from the suppression of Britain. This artifact represents Maria's lecture historically because it is the telling of the strategic in the many battles of the war that was fought, and how freedom was eventually gained for the "pilgrims" in the United States. Exampling how justice could also eventually be gained for all Americans.
Maria's lecture creates a perspective on my artifact because it insights a powerful attitude in myself of how she was convincing the people of America that change can too be made. Maria was telling the people though, those superior of us, or those who hold power in the palms of their hands and at the excess of their fingertips, may indeed have the upper hand in their battle for justice. But that they more than just humblest labors, poor wives, and aged sires. They serve more than the state of servitude and degradation. Maria inform the people of America that they are smart, active and energetic filled with ambition, they can win and share the victory of equality and freedom. This passage allows me to look into my artifact with the attitude of hope! It gives me an insight on how much hope and dedication Washington must have had though the odds may have not always been in his favor during the Revolutionary War. Maria's lecture creates a narrative surrounding my chosen artifact in the way of history repeating itself. Just as those illustrious patriots, Washington, and Lafayette helped the early pilgrims win freedom from Britain. The women, men, girls and boys can too rise up and redeem their freedom, justice and equality in America.

Skinner, Israel.
