Question #3. Historically, how did the dreadnought create an arms race?

In 1906, the dreadnought was created. The dreadnought was a fighting machine that was very deadly. It changed warfare forever and was very important. This created an arms race because the United states saw how powerful they really were and decided to try and make one. This sparked conflict because the soviets did not want to be the underdog and they wanted to be stronger and more powerful than the United States.

Question #4. How did the Treaty of Versailles actually start an arms race?

Basically, when Germany violated the treaty of Versailles everyone knew what was going on and that something bad was about to happen because Hitler was building up the German Military. After WW2, Countries realized how powerful Germany had become and how they were able to get a lot of power by building up their military. So, the United States decided to build up their cavalry, leading to the arms race with the Soviets.

The new creation of new technologies and weaponry. this caused both sides to want to try and match or copy the other country to gain an advantage, this also caused the sides to have even more tension.

The United States created the first thermonuclear bomb. they were showing dominance over the USSR and this caused the Soviets to want to gain more and rise above the U.S. This kicked off the arms race and created a 45-year conflict between the two.

And the way that both countries acted during the arms race. (they would rub it in as soon as they discovered something better than the enemy) this created lots of tension. The two countries would compete even more s soon as they felt that they were the underdog.

A lot of countries still will compete for who has the best military. this may cause freight or concern for another country if they see that one is building up their millitary. Just like how in North korea, Kim jung un was trying to build up their force and show off their nuclear weapons to scare us.

Most countries have nuclear weapons but when America created the atomic bomb they were the first so no other countries had them and they wanted to get them. Countries are still trying to develop nuclear weapons. Just like the smaller countries may see that a bigger one has created something new, they may try to do the same to gain popularity or force.

If one country builds up their military to invade another country than other countries may go to an arms race because they may be afraid of attack. Basically one country woud try and build up their millitary to play defence or even rise above the other country.
