He became a ruler of Athens. Athenian tyrants were usually good leaders. Peisistratus brought peace and perity to the city. he began new policies meant to unify the city. Many improvement were made in Athens. After Peisistratus died, his son took over as tyrant. Aristocrats were not happy because their power was gone. some of these aristocrats told a rival city-state to attack Athens. The Athenians didn't care to make drastic changes without the King's consent but its his powerful army they feared. The Athenians lost there limited Democracy.
