In case you missed it from the intro webinar, there is a whatsApp group we have for this module: https://chat.whatsapp.com/G6weQenw29l8nmosBAaaTp

This group is to share ideas, give some updates etc. Also we created a poll to ask for possible days for a weekly meeting. The meeting would be in teams and we could also use the peers channel in teams (it is currently hidden)

So far we are only 2 people and it would be great to have more people joining :)

If not, are there any other already existing groups that we could join?

I was using WordPress but it was only for the first module and I feel like I paid for it.

In the West, rites of passage in women’s lives are traditionally defined through science and biology. What can be revealed when these life transitions are explored through the medium of embroidery on paper? How might tactility and material engagement offer alternative ways of knowing or understanding these embodied changes?

After yesterday's webinar, I've also tried to formulate my positionality:

  • Fibre artist (aspiring, emergent)

  • Autoethnographic and reflective approach to fibre art making. I want to use fibre art making as a form of self-inquiry to reflect on my own heritage and embodied experiences.

  • Interested in surrealist automatism: how spontaneous mark-making and intuitive abstract fibre art can reveal subconscious narratives and emotional states

  • Slow making, repetition, tactility
