Of course, I hope to learn more tools and tips for teaching virtually too!

My goals for this course are to continue to learn more about student-driven learning through a virtual platform as well as how to support students both academically and emotionally through tough times! I also am looking forward to learning more about specific subject matter applications, in particular STEM and working on community-based problem solving and project-based learning, especially when students do not have their own school campus to use.

I think this course will be extremely valuable in terms of PLC and resources. Everyone was in the same predicament and everyone handled it differently but equally successfully. I have not taken a continuing education course in quite some time. I predict this course will help me to feel more comfortable with new and different technological resources. I am looking forward to learning more about what classroom teachers had to adapt to, and how they effectively taught their students. I am certain this experience will be valuable in the sense that it will give me insight and resources into how I can more effectively connect with the teens I work with, and their families. I also am excited to learn about the benefits of remote teaching.

2. What are your intentions/goals for your learning in this course.

I am intending to learn about and become more comfortable with the different platforms and technologies being used in their course. I was not a classroom teacher this last year, and haven’t been in a classroom for many years. My work as an Associate Director for a teen center doesn’t necessarily keep me up-to-speed with what technologies educators are using now. I want to be able to help the teens I work with when they need assistance with learning, with technology, and with remote instruction.

I am also dedicated to reflecting on what I learned this last year, and what I can learn moving forward regarding new ways to connect with the teens in my community. I don’t want to grow in an opposite direction from them as I get older, but I hope to grow WITH them. I want to get better and better at what I do, and want to learn new and more effective ways to connect with the teens and families I serve. I am looking forward to learning from the other educators in this class, from the materials, and from the instructor.
