My name is Carla van Wissen and I am the coordinator of the bilingual and IB (International Baccalaureate English) programme at our school, the Revius Lyceum in Doorn. I teach IB/English to higher form students. For the IB programme we study a lot of global issues, such as beliefs and values, identity, culture and community, politics, power and justice. Climate Change is related to the environment and community/politics. Climate change affects us all, now and in the future, so it is very important to be aware of what is happening in our world with reference to this topic.
I hope all students (and teachers) involved in this eTwinning project will improve their knowledge about our environment, sustainability and climate change and that we will have fun communicating with students and teachers from the participating schools. I'm sure we will learn from each other's ideas and input and it is good to work together internationally, I think.

I study at the vocational high school "Pierre de Coubertin". I practice sport every single day, more specifically, padel. In my free time, I like to meet friends, spend time with my family, and play video games. I think it's very important for people to realise that climate change is no laughing matter. In my opinion, young children should be taught to care about nature and to learn how to nurture our own habitat. By increasing the quality of our current education, thereby preventing rudimentary education, we can improve the awareness that those pupils will have later in life. As of now, I think that it's absolutely crucial that action must be taken in order to decrease the increase of environmental damage.

Hey everyone! I’m Kim Smit (I know, pretty generic name), I’m 17 years old and live in a small historic city called Wijk bij Duurstede. My hobbies as of now are drawing and sketching, gaming, baking, photography and I recently picked up singing again, though I’m not that great at it yet. After finishing my current education I would like to enroll at an university and study criminology, so I can make my dream of becoming a (forensic) investigator come true.

As of now, it’s strangely warm in the Netherlands for this time of year, even though we’ve had a couple of days of snow and even ice behind us. Even in the pandemic, thousands of people flocked to my hometown for a chance to skate on the ice, which sadly had become a bit rare in recent years, as a side effect of climate change. Climate change is all around us; when I was four it was a common occurrence to skate on natural ice, but now it’s become a rarity. Our climate has been altered drastically, which is something we cannot ignore. This is why projects such as these are crucial, so we as the new generation can raise awareness and educate ourselves about this global issue.
