One Articles of Confederation strength is that Congress didn't have absolute power. This is a strength because it gave people a say in the government. Another strength of the Articles of Confederation was to settle conflicts among states. This is also a strength because it could help prevent war. One weakness of the Articles of Confederation is that there was only a single branch. This means that all the power of the government would go there and there would be no way to balance power. This could be fixed by adding two more branches of government like we have now. Another weakness of the Articles of Confederation is that there was no power to tax. No power to tax is a weakness because the government couldn't collect money from the states and the government would have no money to build roads, couldn't pay off their war debt, and couldn't pay veterans which lead to Shays's Rebellion. This could be improved by allowing the Congress to tax. Articles of Confederation didn't have the power to form an army which is a weakness because there would be no protection for the states. This could be fixed by being able to form an army for protection of the states. Lastly,  there was no National court system in the Articles of Confederation which is considered a weakness in my opinion because you couldn't appeal to higher courts and also couldn't settle disputes between people. This could be improved by adding a National court system.

This created a weak central government instead of a strong central government. The Articles of Confederation only had one branch of government and limited power. One of the limited powers was that there was no power to tax which led to the government being broke and not being able to create an army to protect the states, build roads, or pay veterans which led to Shays's Rebellion. Another way the Articles of Confederation failed was by not having a National court system to settle disputes, or having no President to overlook America.
