Would you be more influenced by a change in society that happened when you were in middle school or when you were an adult? Keep in mind that because it is a societal change, you might not notice the change because you are largely shielded from the real world. Take this whatever direction you please. by Vannah Scarborough

I feel like I would be more influenced the younger I am when the change occurs. So, I would be more influenced by a societal change if it were to occur when I was in middle school than when I would be an adult. It also is common for public schools to "brainwash" students when they are young and impressionable, whether or not they feel this way. There was a student at my middle school who was given two days of in school suspension for wearing a t-shirt that said he supported second amendment rights- not because it implied weapons, but because the teacher did not support second amendment rights.

I would be more influenced by something that happened when I was a kid. Because when I was a kid I listened to people and I was impressional. I am more easily scared when I'm a kid so any change in society can feel like a big one to a small child. I also take things more seriously when I'm younger so I will learn more from those societal changes.

I would be more influenced as an adult than in middle school because when I was in middle school I didn't really pay attention to anything that happened that didn't affect me personally in that instant. However, as an adult I will be directly affected because a societal change would presumably impact my work, social, and home life. I would have to adjust quickly. An example of this is when Barack Obama was elected for his second term. While this isn't necessarily a change because he was already president, his first election impacted me in the same way. I didn't really care much, nor did I even know who he was running against. I was pretty sheltered, but not because my mom didn't want me to be corrupted or anything, she just didn't watch the news. Now that I'm older she pretty much only watches the news, but she also doesn't work anymore and has more time for stuff like that.

I think it would influence a child more than a adult, especially pre teens and teens the most. The example I would use for this would be all of the technological advancements made throughout the 90s and early 2000s all the way to present date. Children born in this time were exposed to a world with no smartphones, no fast computers, and no wifi. And when the shift did happen, they were old enough to understand that a change was occurring. They adapted with the times and knew how to work both old and new technology for this reason.
