Teachers utilize culture has a vehicle for learning.

Using what students like in the classroom to identify with their culture.

Culturally relevant teaching requires students to maintain cultural integrity as well as academic excellence.

Teachers structure knowledge through students parents and professionals.

Ultimately, it’s giving back to the community.

Being culturally responsive requires the the ability to adjust and adapt learning strategies and practices to the growing ethnic and cultural diversity that is receptive to all groups.

Need to acquire knowledge about all student's backgrounds. Meaning teachers need to know more about everyone's cultures to be more effective.

Application:

Cultural potluck- Students begin by writing about their culture and their favorite dishes. Then students will tell us about the history behind that particular food (why they eat it during certain holidays for example) Then students bring a dish they feel represents

their culture.
