He went on this approach. He then took a bath and he realized that when he entered the bathtub, the water overflowed. He also realized that if he added ice-cubes to a full bath, it will overflow too. That meant that if the water that spilled out were weighed (weight is a downward force), it would equal the upward (buoyant) force on the object. The density of gold is 19.3. So, if they wanted to cheat, they will have to use something  called Alloy. If you have something made of pure gold, the thing will be very bendable. That is why goldsmiths use other metals to add the the gold. He decided that density is: mass/volume2. They blend in best with the dried leaves and are even harder to find when they are still in their cocoons.
