Public water systems are responsible for ensuring that contaminants in tap water do not exceed the standards.

  • The Kyoto Protocol was adopted on December 11 1997 and it entered into force on February 16, 2005.

  • The Kyoto Protocol was the first international treaty to set legally binding targets to cut greenhouse gas emissions

  • Emissions would be cut by countries having a maximum carbon emission level. If a country emitted more than assigned it would be penalized by receiving a lower emission limit the next time.

  • The Kyoto Protocol failed due to major emitters like the U.S. and China not signing it.

  • The Kyoto Protocol was the predecessor and led up to the Paris Climate Agreement

    The CWA regulates water pollution by prohibiting the discharge of any pollutants from a point source. Pollutants can only be discharged if a facility is being monitored, has a permit, and they won't hurt the marine life or ecosystem. The CWA also provides grants and funding for water restoration, water quality infrastructure projects, and municipal sewage treatment facilities.
