The teacher who wants to evaluate a student for an IEP must speak with other teachers to see if there are similarities of the difficulties a student may be going through.
Parents can request for an IEP evaluation.
IEPS are a plan for students who needs assistance with their learning disabilities.
IEP Meetings should include Special Education Teacher, Gen Ed Teacher, Parent, District Rep, Social Worker, Student.

Several students in our class mentioned having alternative tools for students. if a student is unable to hold a pencil or a tool, as an art teacher we must find innovative ways to accomodate the student either with tools or the making of art in general.

Sometimes it can be difficult for families to keep up with their students learning disabilities. it is important as a teacher to go above and beyond and assist them with updates and concerns about their child. Me personally if I see a parent needing more help I will go above and beyond for them. Insist families to attend workshops. Inform families about resources that will help their child be on track after school.

Collaborating with Teachers

If we as teachers see that something isn't working. It is important to ask SPED and Gen Ed Teachers on how I can change the approach of curriculum. It is important that teachers give each other game so that we are all giving our committed efforts to our students. Collaborating with other teachers in general is something I want to do regardless, because it will allow for students to connect things in other classes and have conversations with other great minded people.
