The image above depicts an object that resembles a deer with tree-like features such as branches. The sole reason I chose this image is because of its ability to merge objects under the theme of nature. From this, I’m planning to create a more simple and visually appealing image that still holds elements of the Dada art movement. What further drew me into this illustration was how this collage composition is composed of darker, more subtle color palettes such as navy blue and black. This is different from the other collage of the dada movement which usually is composed of brighter, more colorful themes. Between traditional paper collages and digital collages, I prefer digital collages as they offer more flexibility and variety for my collage. Thus, I will be able to manipulate my digital art to hold elements of art made on paper while still having access to more colors and animations which isn’t available when creating paper artwork.

I really like images with flowers and this image really stood out to me as I was browsing through the Dada Collage and the Digital Collage.
The composition was just really appealing to look at and the flowers blended in nicely into the girl's face. The amount of colors within the composition and the way the flowers were situated in and around the girl's face really drew my attention. The composition had a lot of color, which made it look lively and bright. Overall, the composition was really beautiful to look at and the beauty of the composition drew my attention.
I prefer the collages that are created with digital images on the computer because the traditional paper collages created during the Dada Art Movement were a bit scary to look at. They were mostly black and white and had strange looking images and shapes within them. They were not as appealing as the collages that are created with digital images. The digital collages looked more bright and unique to me.

Optional: I think the theme of my collage will be an album cover of my favorite music artist/band. I might just create a cover for a specific song that I like and not necessarily the artist or band. But I would really like to incorporate flowers with black and white along with color, to overall make my collage appealing to look at.

In my opinion, the picture portrays the idea that life can be a journey in which you can face unexpected events and meet unexpected people. I think the picture also portrays the idea that along the journey, you can understand yourself more and you can make your own decisions based on how you feel and what you think is right.
The collage itself is very beautiful. The collage highlights the beauty of outer space and the details that have been put into it makes the collage look very realistic. I prefer the collages that are created with digital images on the computer because the collages that were created during the Dada Art Movement look a bit confusing and scary. I truly do not understand the purpose or idea that the collages are trying to convey and some of the collages are very disturbing to look at. The collages that are created with digital images on the computer are more calming to look at and I can resonate with the ideas and feelings that most of the collages portray.

After looking at both Dada art collages and digital art collages, I find myself more interested in digital art collages as they seem to have a more modern look with more creativity and fluidity. I chose this because I like the silhouette of a human in the foreground of a realistic setting, such as a sunset as depicted in the collage. I liked the light, warm, orange of the collage, and I believe that is what drew my attention to it. The college of the man too, is made up of mostly light collars with huge contrasts to set the border of the man. I believe that both paper and Dada have their own pros and cons, however personally I would rather paper, as I feel like inspiration would come easier and the application process would force you to adapt to your own skill rather than computer skills.

I wanted to do something that was asymmetric, yet not awkward at the imbalance. The swing chair ride going up and down does have that affect of making the right side more weighted, however, the peaceful background as well as the image being in the center put it in the spot light as it's almost a leading line from the person with the flashlight. Paper collages are beautiful as they show creativity in our fingers, however, digital images on the computer allow photo-shopped images and change in colors, exposure changes, and an easy undo/redo button. Regardless, I prefer traditional paper images to see where my potential is. In this collage, one could see that there is a carnival ride that represents a rocket ship. The astronauts are enjoying the ride as if they were at an amusement park however they are in space. The contrast of the yellow bright carnival ride against the black background of space made this collage stick out. More focus is put on the carnival ride due to how bright it is. Additionally, the blue of the earth was like the icing on the cake. I am choosing this collage as my inspiration because of how balanced it feels. This collage does not feel overwhelming to the point where my eyes feel tired from looking at it. I enjoy the simplicity of a carnival ride as a rocket ship in outer space with astronauts. I prefer collages created with digital images on the computer. The majority of traditional paper collages have a person as the main focus. Since most of the collages from the Dada Art movement have people as the main focus it starts to get repetitive. I chose this collage as my inspiration because it seemed to show how various elements can come together and form a single piece and even set a specific mood for the viewers. It was intriguing and fascinating to me how the artist managed to organize unrelated objects in a way that was visually harmonious.

The warm colors that the digital artist utilized helped with the portrayal of mystery for the viewers. The choice of colors also are aesthetically pleasing and they are not too bright to the eyes so it is satisfying to look at. I admire the way the colors assist the theme of the collage as well as making it appealing.

I prefer digital images on the computer over the traditional paper collages because there are more possibilities. Digital collages can create a seamless fantasy by combining images together as well as set a mood with a wide range of colors. Although paper collages can set different moods with the specific images chosen, they all seem to have a yellowish-brown tint and the pictures are put together in an obvious manner where the viewers can tell where the shapes get cut off. I prefer digital images on the computer since it creates a story in a snapshot as it is effortlessly blended together.

Seeing the texture and the color of the collage began the story in my head and wanted to know what is going to happen next. I remember in one of our lessons that the behind of an image has to reflect the story. I prefer the digital images on the computer because it interested me more than when I looked and searched on the traditional paper collages in my opinion. The collage has two sides of a face and that includes something coming out from the middle displaying the person blossoming into something new. Specifically in the collage there were flowers coming from the middle of the person's face which depicts new birth, and shedding one’s old self. The composition was very interesting, especially the black and white monochromatic tone in the photo which sets a dejected feeling mixed with the bright colors where the flowers are blooming allowing a glimmer of hope to shine through. The face being pulled apart shows something deeper harvesting beneath the surface of what is shown in the picture. I prefer the digital arts due to their bountiful amount of colors and clarity. You can see the colors so clearly along with the symbols or words allowing the audience to see and feel the different emotions that are being incorporated. Although the digital artists are more modern their collages still show complexity and artistry that are unmatched.

I find it fun to just draw faces and this collage gives me the prefect inspiration to incorporate my artistic passion. In fact, the main component of this piece to draw me in was the face. It hit a balance between cartoony and somewhat realistic. The colors of this piece are also what caught my eye. I enjoy how it's almost monochromatic but still has a variety of colors. The variety helps to better highlight the different parts of the body and extenuate the parts of the face, such as orange being used for the eyebrows and highlights. I personally prefer collages created with digital images simply for the fact that it's much more colorful. The Dada pieces may look disjointed and odd but from an artistic angle, it actually works. I respect it for what it is and what it represents but aesthetically it doesn't resonate with me. I was first drawn to this image due to the juxtaposition and irony between the chaotic background and the woman nonchalantly sitting in the foreground. This contrast captivated me as I interpreted it as a woman being in denial of all the destruction and pain around her. For my digital collage, I was planning on creating an album cover of a fantastical setting, representative of one's psyche. Based on the theme of the songs on the album, I wanted to implement all the turmoil that could be inside someone's mind and symbolize that through illusions as if that person is in denial of their affliction. So, the explosions in the background along with a woman sitting on what appears to be a missile sparked my interest and inspired me to create an album cover along with the same ironic themes. In terms of the composition, I was drawn to the contrast between the realism of the trees and the cartoon style of the woman. The warm and cool colors in this collage, like the blues and oranges, were also intriguing as they were complementary colors and created further contrast. I prefer collages that are created with digital images on the computer as there is much more flexibility and freedom to make these collages. For instance, the resources for traditional paper collages are limited and the process may be more messy and time-consuming. I prefer the traditional paper collages that were created during the Dada Art Movement to the digital collage images created on the computer because I like the idea of getting different pictures from different places and combining them. I feel like when you do the original paper method, you never know how the final will look which makes it way more interesting and more surprising when put together.

It almost has a monochromatic type of scheme, with most of the colors being close to purple. In addition to the colors, I also appreciate the stylistic choices made. For example, there is a solid purple background and the textured photos are layered on top of that background. It adds more dimensions to the collage, and I would personally like to achieve that. The reference of the red fire truck rescuing a baby hanging from the earth as adults watch on, caught my attention as well, as it is an interesting take on the future of our environment. This is further inspired by the red lava-ish colors used on the continents on earth, which is a detail that is fear inducing (facial expressions of humans).
I prefer digital collages as I feel that it works best with my approach to work projects. I like to have a really fast and semi complete first draft (15 mins or so in this case), and then iterate multiple times to add to the base I have created. The reason I choose this collage as inspiration is because I feel like it's quite close to the looks of Tokyo, Japan. I want to make my collage based on Tokyo and I feel as if the night lights of this image really represent that of Tokyo. The color scheme caught my attention because the top of the pages are darker cooler colors like shades of blue, purple, and black. The bottom of the page has areas where the complimentary colors such as shades of orange and yellow are shown which creates a contrast. I think I prefer digital collages because you can find anything you want and easily put it on your collage.
