There really aren't words that can truly express how I am feeling<3 When I started in Susan's lab you were this incredible mentor. You showed me patience, and kindness, answering my questions, showing me techniques and guiding me, sharing protocols and wisdom. You helped shape me to become the technician I am today. Your laughter will forever ring in my memories as will that explosive smile! I could not have achieved what I have in my career, had it not been for you; truly integral to my development. Each and every International Women's day, I am grateful for the strong, intelligent wise women I have had in my life, and you are one of these, and I think of and thank you. You have impacted both research and learning in your many years here, and that legacy flourishes and continues in those that you have helped like me, and each student that goes on into their future careers; the numbers are immeasurable!


I wish you all the best with each new adventure in this next chapter of your life, each new memory created , and every life you touch! Thank you for being a part of this adventure, for being a mentor, a colleague and a friend.

When we first met (you were a tech with Susan), your proficiency in the lab was evident. Molecular biology was just in its early stages in the Department of Microbiology and the fact you were working in it was so fascinating.

I will always remember the spirited (and sometimes raucous) Microbiology hallway coffee breaks. You contributed greatly to the conversations and mirth that marked the times sitting on the floor (yes, that is how we rolled back then).

Later on, your advice and patience in guiding me through BIOL 391 lab prep was most appreciated. No question was too dumb and you made sure that I understood everything.

I hope that you enjoy your well deserved break and try not to do too many things at once; spread them out.
