At the crit we were very well evaluated, actually one of the best all around. The only thing they didn't tink worked that well was a quick graphic socore that bruna got on a website, I also agreed that it did not worked. At the end of all the presentations we were supposed to answer 3 questions, and here I go:
1- I really think I did a big part of the work, I designed all the graphical elements digitally, and I even made the hole animation by myself. I am not that happy with my contribution because I think it was not equal to the rest of the group

This is a good question to start with, because illustration is not the same as concept

An illustration is a visual representation (like a drawing, a painting, a photograph or any other work of art) in which the subject is more important than the form. Its goal is indeed to explain, describe or even graphically decorate a text, so its content must correspond to that of the words to which it is associated.

The concept art is instead a particular form of illustration, whose main objective is to express, before the creation of the finished product, a design, an idea or a mood that will be used in a film, in a videogame, in a animation or in a comic book.

With that in mind I choosed to make a concept instead of an illustration.

Personal Statement

The manner that the visuals in animation and games made me enter in different realities amazed me ever since I was a young boy. These memories brought on a love for Art ever since and it quickly became my favourite subject at school, it felt more of a joy to do rather than a chore like a lot of other subjects can be. Back on those days I didn't even knew what concept art was.

I went to art schools parallel to highschool and college for at least 3 years. In Quanta Academy of Arts I learned to study the fundamentals as hard as I can and started to love the seek of technical skills. Therefore I completed many sketchbooks year by year and never stopped attending to those art classes. Perspective, anatomy and color are the things I spend at least 2 hour a day studying, and I love it.

In this path I've common across lots of artists that molded me, to outline a few I would start with Scott Robertson and his amazings vehicles, the guy that introduced me to the concept art world. Kim Jung Gi and Steve Huston impressed me with stunning figure drawings. More recently Hayao Miyazaki's and Aaron Blaise animations made me enter in a entire new world.

Seen all these international guys made me also want to work in their industry, so I've been seeking it since than. I don't care to start my way in Brazil, but I want to and up in other continents.

I decided to sign up for Ebac’s Foundation as it was the only place in São Paulo where I could have the freedom to study art in animation and games, and I still seek this in BA, but now with more technical skills in mind. I want to expand my abilities as much as I can, to be able to meet industry standard techniques.

In the middle of some foundations projects I've entered in a group with some students, we had in mind the idea to create an entire digital world and my task was to make the concept art. This made me gain lots of experiences I've never had, such as working with post and pre production in a 3D environment.

It's been a while since I have always been intrigued by Animation but it's been this past year or so that I've really come to appreciate it and would now like to try and make a career from this great art form, but it still a difficult decision since I’ve never done any elaborated stuff in this area. Since then I am in this doubt between animation and games, but stilI, I think I can't run from my passion in 2D.
