Prisha is a 26-year-old bisexual woman of Indian heritage. Prisha is currently employed as a customer service advisor working from home. Prisha has had short-term interpersonal relationships with both men and women. Although her family of origin is now “middle class,” her family experienced significant financial struggles in her early years. She lives with a roommate, but cost of living increases has made paying her monthly bills more difficult. She was referred from her GP as she has been feeling low for quite a long time. She has disclosed to her GP that she experienced frequent physical and emotional abuse as a teenager. She states that at times, she just didn’t feel good enough and often struggled to fit in with social groups, which left her feeling relatively isolated. Prisha has constant feelings of guilt for not managing her emotions. She thinks medication may help her feel better, but she has always believed that she should “power through” the hardships of life. This is the first time that Prisha has sought mental health services. Using cultural humility as a core component of culturally-responsive mental health practice and the research provided, please describe:
