For both, it would need to be clear for the student how to assess himself/herself, but it can work in both options.
In terms of quizzes and tests, also can be done with both. For online one, it needs to be timed in a way that students can have a certain amount of time for each question, then it disappears.

In my opinion, peer assessment can be used in both environments. However, if it is to be used to full potential, students need to learn first how to assess (a hard one!). It can work for both options. Maybe even more for to be done via e-mail or platform. Then it is more clear for the student, more private and personal. There is no line of students being impatient for their assessment, the student has the idea that the teacher really took time to give her/his feedback.

This is the "old-school" thing - and mostly done at schools in classrooms, however, of course, it can be used in distance learning as well. I would say peer assessment suits both school and distance settings.
In this case, the dynamics that must be taken into account are:
although the learning benefits of using peer assessment are well documented, especially qualitative assessment, its use does raise occasional questions, for example, what if the students argue that it's our job to assess and not theirs? Students may fail to implement assessment criteria effectively and mislead their peers.

Self-assessment could be done both in school and at distance. In fact, I used to 'offer' 1 point more (except for the starting one) in tests, if students fulfilled a self-evaluation grid (the purpose had been solely to develop their sense of self-assessment, so that not to have unjustified expectations).
But, in asynchronous learning, I think tasks should be timed, and, eventually, non-editable, as to somehow prevent cheating (actually this is somewhat utopic, as cheating can NEVER be prevented! :))

Peer assessment should be done in school. One way of doing it, without feeling they offend each other is this: I cover the names of the students on the paper tests, then I share the tests randomly and we evaluate them together. One students reads the task/question aloud, we establish the correct answer, and students, individually, grade it on the test paper in front of them.
This way, students do not doubt their appreciation, do not develop 'guilt' feelings (because sensitive ones do, usually) and exaggerations are prevented.

Every form of assessment offered in a class is teacher led, because he/she is the one who establishes the rules and goals. But I think here it is about the teacher checking the content and evaluating for every student. It is a energy consuming way of assessment, but I think it is necessary and useful in two aspects: 1) the students feel their are really 'seen' and coached by the teacher, 2) the teacher gets a thorough insight in the progress/difficulties of the student.
In the future I believe that Artificial Intelligence will probably take over part of teacher lead assessments.

In my case, cheating online is not an issue, because my students need to develop activites that cannot be copied anywhere. They have to produce invoices, delivery notes, file taxes, or design a human resources evaluation plan. So maybe to avoid cheating online we should change the activites we propose to the students. In my opinion, both. Some might say that online assessment can lead to fraud by the students. It can happen, and it happens. However teachers can easily tell if it was that specific student who made the task or not. And also, by applying the correct platform definitions, like scrambling the options, etc, it is easily solved. We can also use Socrative or Kahoot for in-school assessment, rather than a written test. We can use platforms like Loom to have students doing their speaking presentations in both cases.

Self-based is a great tool for formative assessment and works better at distant learning activities.

For example, have the student watch a video, then answer a list of questions to assess what hes learned by watching it, then watch the video again and try to find the answers for the questions he missed. Or during a project, evaluate it using a rubric and then revise it.

It would be great if the students could determine the assessment criteria by themselves(for example try to reflect what they have learned) but it’s not usually the case. So the teacher has to provide the tools(questionnaire, rubric etc) for the assessment to be effective(self and teacher-led blend, if I understood the terms correctly).

Peer assessment is great for evaluating projects and works mostly as a summative assessment tool. It’s certainly better to take place in the classroom, where the evaluated student would get it’s feedback. But if the project is long and need more time to assess it, then a mix(in-class and distant) would be more appropriate. Peers evaluate the project at home, and then present the results using a polling system live in the classroom. Again, teacher guidance would probably be needed to provide the rubric or, event better, form it with the collaboration of the students.

Trying to assess students at a distance evokes issues such as: can the teachers actually see the students while giving a test, for example? If the teacher is assessing the students especially if it is a summative assessment it should be done in the classroom to avoid or better contain cheating. If it is a kind of formative assessment on written homework, a presentation, or group work the classroom agin is the best setting when the teacher can give some immediate feedback.
When you test to check knowledge acquisition using a quiz or a multiple choice activity this could be done from a distance because you can set a time after which the test disappears. Of, course it is difficult to know who really did the test! I tried a test of this kind during a synchronous online lesson but I couldn't check the post-its on their computers!

In class peer assessment is easier to handle. If a teacher asks to peer assess an oral performance or a presentation, you just need to hand out a photocopy of the rubric and students can evaluate their peers' work with ease. If you are in class, you can also make use of digital tools, like a mentimeter, or an online rubric but still there's no lagging time and teachers can provide an immediate help, if needed.
Peer assessment can be used in a distance-lesson environment too but teachers must accept there may be "interferences" or technical problems. Mentimeter will help here too, but online shared documents may lend themselves to cheating.

Behavioural issues such as poor communication, lack of interest, failure to engage during the learning process can lead to an unsuccessful outcome especially when collaborative work is assessed (analysis of guidelines and WebQuest). Lack of personal insight into the professional boundaries is an additional cause of concern. These soft skills are essential to be assessed to ensure long-lasting outcome.

I think it is suited for both settings. Students always need to be in a position to assess how much they have learnt themselves, and be aware of their level of performance. I suppose the age group of the students also plays a role here. With older students, for example, (like us participants of this MOOC!!!) peer assessment takes place more easily at a distance, because they already have an idea what they have to do and how to do it, whereas with younger students who need more guidance, it had better be done in school.

Teacher-led assessment has traditionally been taking place in the school setting but, as our recent experience has taught us, it might as well take place at a distance setting. Throughout the period of school closures due to the pandemic, online homework and even testing was part of our daily routine. We became acquainted with on-line tools for correction and processing documents, or even discovered digital tools with which we could create self-corrected activities.
The whole on-line correcting process is not only essentially more time-consuming for teachers but, unavoidably, students have much more opportunity to "cheat" or receive help from tutors or parents, too. I think that this risk may be limited (I wouldn't use the term "eliminated" for obvious reasons) if the activities or the tests are timed. What is also important, is that students realise that it's not the teacher that they 'll impress by cheating. It's only themselves that they'll fool at the end of the day, so it is in their best interest to be "poitically correct" and respect the rules of fair play.

As educators we must be aware that formative assessment should be focused more on positive aspects and supportive for students, and summative on assessing all their skills and competencies.
We also have to be aware of difference between assessment and evaluation, and even when evaluating the students nowledge. We should keep in mind that some of them need help of the teacher or of their peers, or need differentiated approach in assessment and evaluation, rather than consider students "cheating" if they turn to other forms of help.

This one is split for me, since peer assessment can be done both in person or distance. I would say at the start have in person peer assessment to allow students to understand what a good assessment is. Then you can move online. I would also say that it is very important they do peer assessment online as this is one of the main ways students assess their world around them (facebook, twitter, tick toc etc.) and exposing them to good peer assessment structures can help them communicate better online.

To be honest, I am a big fan of peer assessment, as it is the way I learnt Dutch when I moved to the Netherlands as a child. It is possible both in class, as well as online. I have tried it many times in class after showing them how it is done and what they are expected to do. Also, I tried it in online setting as well where students gave each other written feedback about their writing assignments. Students need to develop these skills in order to become critical thinkers who can give valuable feedback.

Well it works for both settings, as they both promote autonomy in students and hold them responsible for their own learning. In order to achieve this competency in learners, they need to be taught how to self-evaluate, and against which criteria tis is to be done. They also need to be taught that assessment is done for the sake of learning and not for grading and judgment

Peer assessment also can be done in both setting, yet to have it done correctly in both settings, clear rubric should be shared, language of feedback needs to be taught and an exemplified situation would also be an asset

This is definitely one of the assessment types which most teachers are used to. Though many found it the biggest challenge when online learning, yet if we change the mindset about "grades" and realize that assessment is done as an opportunity to learn and assessment are created to measure acquired skill, authenticity and credibility won't comprise an issue anymore
