I am planning on photographing the Brophy soccer team during practice. Practice would be considered more of an event than a competition since it is not an organized game but rather a training session to for them improve their skills. I would prefer to photograph them during training rather than a game since their activities are more versatile. There are many different aspects in a training session (shooting practice, dribbling, scrimmages, conditioning). This will allow to capture more aspects of what it means to be a competitive soccer varsity athlete and what it takes to compete at such a high level instead of only showing the end result (the game).

One beneficial aspect of practices is that their are everyday of the school week instead of one specific date like a game. Practices are from (3-5pm).

In an ideal world I would want all my pictures to be different to highlight how practices are composed of many different aspects and drills as compared to one like a game.

Detail Shot:

I would like my detail shot to be during a water break or a rest time. I would ideally want to look for a player who is extremely tired and is sweating heavily or has their hands on their knees. This will be to show how intense these practices are.

Portrait:

For my portrait photo I would want to take a picture of the coach. I would prefer to photograph a more still event and I thought that a coach would be perfect. This would be to show the importance of a coach in arranging and giving formation to their team.

Scene-Setting:

I would want my scene setting shot to be a scrimmage of all of the players. This would be to essentially overall show the overall purpose of practice, to perform their best for games. The picture would give the audience an overall idea of what my project is about. I think that them wearing regular soccer shirts and not their actual jerseys and uniforms will highlight the fact that they are still competing yet their is a sense of camaradery.

The photos shown here were of a practice of the Brophy College Preparatory varsity soccer team. They highlight what it is needed to become a top class team among some of the best teams in the country. This practice was in preparation for their game against their rivals, Desert Vista.
