Can we blame genes and personality for being obese?

We inherit our genes from our parents, and which will be passed from one generation to next generation, and which is also something that we definitely cannot change. 50 percent people from Europe countries inherit a particular gene from their parents that will put them at high risk of becoming 'fat', and people who receives double those genes could be even be 'fat' more easily compared to people who don't have this gene or who only receive one from their parents.

But however, we can blame this, because we can totally avoid this by doing more exercise to burn more calories we take during a day, or we can eat less food, especially fast food and high sugar food, to maintain our weight.
