What is it?  Cannabis is a natural substance which comes from the"cannabis sativa" plant. It is a hallucinogen and a depressant and is the most common illegal drug.
How many people use it? Roughly, 32million people in the U.K and possibly the first one younger people are associated with.
Immediate effects:  Sometimes the user might feel relaxed or stimulated however others can experience nausea and mild hallucinations. Panic attacks and paranoia can occur immediately after a joint. As an intoxicant, you should not drive the following day.
Long term: Cannabis contains over 400 different chemicals, meaning a greater risk of lung cancer and emphysema compared to a cigarette. One joint per week or even once a month will ensure permanent presence of THC. It affects the nerve connections from being made properly which could mean a struggle with learning and memory.
Possession: Up to 5 years in prison and unlimited fine or both. Surprisingly 76% of people who are arrested for drug offences were charged with possessing cannabis.
