Reflection
I tried to make something with clay . Clay is incredibly verstatile . It can be engraved ,glazed, washed, dropped , shaped, soaked etc So first i took big pile of clay and tried to cut it into small pieces . Clay was brown in colour and touch of it gave me memories of my childhood days when i used to play with clay .Smell also brought me closer to extraordinary memories of me engaging with clay . As stated in Encounter with materials in early childhood education - The clay folds in touch of our warm hand . We fold in the smooth sensation of the clay it refers to idea of fold as bearing witness,as continuation of life, where children endure in its existence ,where clay endure in its existence .It is the fold that forces those it rallies to think ,imagine, create(stangers et al.,2009,para 7) similar to above said statement while folding clay a lot of memories and shape came in my mind and lot of imaginations hit my mind of what should i make of it i could feel warmth of clay in my hand as it was drying . Clay is living, because it holds the potential to transform relations of care ( p 703) clay is a multispecies community(p .701) i do agree with given statement since in this way clay transformed 2D imagination of my brain into 3D reality in the shape of cube as clay is some living thing . Though object was simple looking but it took lots of cutting with hand and folding it and pressing with my finger properly in order to give shape of a cube

Reflection
So i tried to use charcoal sticks according to my imagination in order to draw something .I had various shades of charcoal sticks . They were rectangular size with flat surface at the end. Firstly I tried to draw shapes like tree and star with help of charcoal and then tried to use my fingertip to disperse the colour .The rub of my fingertip against the paper brought childhood memories and activity of getting my fingers dirty reminded me childhood memories when used to engage in any activity without any care . I tried to also draw banana and apple which were the images i used to draw in my childhood . As stated in Encounters with materials in early childhood education Charcoal is a thing : a compressed wood but it is also a story , an event , a happening , a doing. We are interested in charcoalness, the expression and experience of charcoal in the encounter( springgay,2011,2012). I Could relate to this statement since when i was using charcoal i was drawing a story of my childhood , a cheerful event and was painting my imagination from brain unto the paper . To touch a charcoal is to gesture towards it .As manning (2007) explains ," i cant touch you without being responsive". i could relate to the statement in this activity Overall experimentation with charcoal was very exciting and reminded me of childhood days

This activity in early childhood setting would help children to get introduced to lot of concepts such as draw , dust , brush , stroke , dispense , draw together etc . I as being early childhood teacher would ask kids to just brush charcoal on piece on paper and express their feeling and emotions .This will activity not only help them with understanding how to draw with charcoal but would lead them to communicate with each other and also help them understand how to work in group and how to communicate as well . Children would understand importance of touch by using charcoal and it would help in their motor skills and for some children it might be their first step before they are established as painters in near future

Reflection
I tried to use my imagination and my instinct led to draw this painting . This is basic painting which i used to draw during childhood days and bring back memories of my childhood . After reading from session 3 unit readings i went to know there are 3 types of assemblage 1. type of paint 2. surface to paint on 3. what you use to apply to paint on it did helped me to understand painting . An assemblage ,(Benett 2010) writes is like human-nonhuman working group where each element is in relationship with the other . I did understand with statement that various materials interact with each other in painting to make something meaningful .i first used charcoal in order to draw rough sketch on paper . charcoal which i used felt like using pencil on piece of paper and reminded me of childhood days then i used oil pastels in order to do painting and paint mountains brown . Smell of oil pastels was nostalgic and did reminded me of childhood days oil pastel . Also Iused acrylic paint in order to colour trees green .Paintings have been means through which we have learnt how early human beings used to live whether they are cave paintings or painting on the walls in pyramid in Egypt so painting itself is simplest and easy way to learn language and for language acquisition. Overall i really loved painting , stroking my fingers on piece of paper and using acrylic paints did reminded of my early childhood days it was pleasant experience

PAPER

I tried to use different coloured papers in order to cut n make shapes and make something that was in my imagination. I had coloured paper which I folded , bent , cut etc in order to achieve imagination of my brain I had paper of various colours that really excited me and brought my memories back to my childhood days when I used to experiment with coloured paper so first I took scissor n tried to cut paper into triangles and square to make something meaningful as Tim ingold(2011) writes to know paper in a way is not just to describe its attributes but to learn how it moves and describe what happens as it shifts , mixes and modifies. So keeping in mind the above statement I tried to mix and modify paper according to my imagination as I cut triangles and squares and made a house with windows with it I could feel the smoothness of paper while cutting it and also felt nostalgic when using scissor to cut paper and applying glue on back end of it to apply on other paper .Smell of glue really bring memories down the lane .Also in the unit( donal o donahogue( 2010)) states that importance of making three way conversation with material for eg paper in this case what will it let me do ? What does it want me to do ? What is its I want to do ( p107 ) keeping in mind this statement also allowed me to experiment more with paper and feel connection with material so i tried to draw sun and rays as well with help of scissor and paper and also I draw tree as well I felt emotional and excited while drawing this since from childhood days . The most excited thing I did was I cut green paper and draw the lines and cut it with scissor and made grass of it and pasted it it was really damn excited and creative of me .All these folding ,touching ,pasting ,crumpling ,cutting and pasting made me relaxed and smell of paper too was heart touching.

I recently went to library at the docks with my tutor and chose a book called silly birds by Greig Dreise .Reason behind me choosing this books not only it has good story for kids but also has great pictures and drawings of First Nation people and aboriginals I was captivated by images and paintings of birds and scenario and all these were painted in aboriginal and First Nation style of painting The words used in the book were very simple it’s basically story about an eagle who’s wise but gets under bad influence of silly bird called Wagun .According to session 8 multiliteracy is multimodal ways of communicating through linguistic , auditory , gesture , spatial forms plus visuals and this book does has the capacity to provide all the above mentioned characteristics thus reading this book to kids can help them with literacy learning if read to children. Also it has simple message of telling that listening is much more important than always speaking and respect elders and it’s perfect book for kids for their behaviour plus making theme aware about First Nation people and aboriginals. overall i like this book since it has paintings in style of aboriginal and first nation people plus has simple vocabulary words for easy language acquisition for kids plus it reminds me of childhood days as well

I would teach a group of 3-5 year old children the goal of this experience is not only to develop literacy of children but to also develop moral judgement among them as well. I would show them all the visuals and paintings of birds and etc in order to make kids interested as described in session 8 I would use multiliteracy tactics like linguistic , audio , gestures as well as visuals in order to describe story to them . Words in book are really simple and children 3-5 year old can easily grasp and learn and speak the words . Looking at the images of bird and paintings in the book, I will teach children about culture of First nation people and Aboriginals .The outcome which i want to achieve through this activity is outcome 5 of EYLF which states that children are effective communicators and children began to understand how symbols and pattern systems work .

Reflection
Reason i choose following song since its most simple for (0-5) year old children as it describes simple movements such as clap , pat on the knees etc as well kids would be all able to learn different body parts . In this case I felt very energetic while dancing and singing and it reminded me of my childhood days when we used to do same activities in class . Clapping hands on top of my head I felt excited and relaxed . ( Zangl ,2014) states that environments should stimulate both quality and amount of growth in language . i think following song with hand movements create perfect environment for any kid in order to learn language. Also (O'Connor,2017) states that play arouses children's interest and engagement maximising their learning potential and can inspire and their positive association with education I think this song is just like a play which can help kids to not only perform activities but also help them to educate about different body parts i felt really happy dancing and singing on this song .It brought inner child out of me and after doing this activity I feel confident about performing infront of kids in kindergarten Overall I felt happy , nostalgic as well as confident after singing and doing movements on this song and it did reminded me of childhood memories

Through this activity and experimenting with various materials like clay , paint , book, singing song ,charcoal , painting etc i experienced my childhood memories and felt joy , happiness and excitement . Associating my work with readings from my unit I was able to learn lot of concepts such as paint assemblage , multiliteracy, ways through which child can acquire language . Also singing song while doing movements helped me build confidence for me to perform in front of kids in future . Also i learnt how i can imply this into early childhood education practice for children to learn various concepts and create playful environment for kids in order to learn and do movements. I also learnt how to help children to learn though clay , painting , charcoal , book etc which can lead to language acquisition and help them improve their motor skills as well as sense of being in the group . Overall with this activity I was able to reflect my experiences of my encounter with various materials as well as learnt how i can introduce practices in early childhood setting to help children learn through various materials and acquire language
