The Indians didn’t want the English polo players to play on their turf. The petition written by Indian cricket players suggests that they did not approve of their field being shared by the Englishmen, as it supposedly affected the conditions of the field poorly, and it hurt their honor as Indian cricketers. The Indians adapted to cricket from the Englishmen, but they wanted to make it more than what the Englishmen had already built.

Cricket gave many poorer people a chance to rise out of the lower classes and into wealth and high society. An example of this is that the champion bowler/pitcher of the Hindus was a mere leatherworker before he joined the national cricket team. The team found that, even though he was from humble beginnings, his spirit and confidence could aid the cricket players in their games. This taught the people of India that anyone could rise up, and become successful if they tried hard enough. At first, cricket was thought to be a posh sport that only the rich could play, but when it came to India, it became a sport that anyone could play and be successful at.

Cricket caused a cultural and racial divide among the cricket community. The Quadrangular tournament helped the game of cricket fuel healthy rivalries. These rivalries became less healthy rivalries as the game continued and turned into a rivalry of a game into a rivalry of religions. Religious leaders used cricket to gain public following and money. As a result, Cricket has become one of India’s most competitive scenes.
