Jan 23, 2018
Section: 3

Our Interview with Dr. Ashty Qazzaz

Today we had a meeting with Dr.Ashty Qazzaz, who is a Doctor of Civil Engineering Program. He was very happy to meet us.We asked him some questions about Civil Engineering Program.First, we asked him a question which many students have no idea about it which was about the difrences between Civil Engineering Program and Construction Engineering Program.
He said as follows" Construction Engineering Program is a section of Civil Engineering Program, and civil engineering program is more useful than construction engineering program. Also, it's bigger than from it because it have many subjects about many different specialties. For example it has (highway engineering, construction engineering of dams). Second, we asked him about the future of Civil Engineering in Iraq. He said " Cvil Engineering is more common in Iraq, and jobs chances for it are more than construction engineering. Furthermore, if I will be a boss of a company, and I see C.V. for two engineers one of them is a civil engineer and the other is a construction engineer, I will give a chance for the civil engineer because he has more information about many types of construction. Third, we asked him about average salary for the civil engineer in Iraq. He said " that depend on the company which you will work in it, and also it depends on you. For example, my friend have worked at a company as an highway engineer, and he takes $10,000 monthly. Also, he has a car and many gards that because he loves his job, but I can say the average salray is around ($1,000_ $2,000) in Iraq. Finaly, he advised and motivated us to study Civil Engineering Program in the future as the perfect section.

Kaniwar
Qashang
Niloufar

section: 3

       An amazing interview with Martin.T.Horsch
After we were assigned to have an interview with a member in the Auis facility, we had the privilege of having a pleasant interview with Mr. Martin Horsch, he is an Associate Professor in energy and chemical engineering, and he profess thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and computing engineering. We were very pleased when he responded to our email, and he was very happy to have us.there were only 4 questions asked sadly, but much information were given, and learned. we first asked about his academic interest, and he responded us saying he was very interested in international faculties and recommended us to do the same if we ever had the chance. when we asked about any academic difficulties in his faculty he said that we should be aware of dynamics which are really hard, and if we ever wanted to study energy we should start before by studying dynamics, but when we inquired about projects that he does in engineering he replied with a sad tone" projects in auis is limited, so the university needs to expand and build more faculties and students needs more time so they can research in there area and improve there skill in what they want to research and overall have fun doing so". and finally we asked him what will we contribute to our society if we join his faculty. He answered with optimism" kurdistan is full of engineers that would love to work hard, but sadly there haven't been any occupations available for them, and their talent is wasted, so kurdish government needs to improve general engineering sector providing resources and jobs for them since kurdistan engineering sector needs improvements to keep up with other developing countries. we finished our interview and we were very grateful for the time he gave us, so we thanked him deeply for it, and appreciated his answers.

miran
kardo
ammar

January 29th, 2018
Section 3
An interview with Dr. Christopher Flaherty

Dr. Christopher Flaherty is a social science teacher at AUIS. We started the interview by asking him a questions about social science department, and he was so glad to answer us.
Our first question was "What is a social science?"
He said, social science is similar to history, but it is not exactly a history.in history we look at little moments of history and all the details that surround it with lots of information which are very specific. Social science tries to come up with general rules quite like actual science, but the difficultly is that put the history into the laboratory. And we can not control all the different things that happen, so we can never get the same kink of certainty as we do in physics science.
The second question "What subjects do the social science focuse on?"
Social science includes arguement / debates, evidences, politic, economy, religion, and culture all these things help us to understand the world and analyze problems objectively. They are all could be emotional.
Third question "How does social science help people in their daily life?"
It helps people to have discussion of a concept. In social science the things take people will always have opinion with the things they experienced about, and it makes their life objective. All social science subjects such as religion, anthropology, and even history help people in their communication with each other.
Ghazala
Shadi
Bana
