This meets the need of the users of the Masaka cycling club, including the mechanics, coaches, captains, cyclists, club administrators, and the local community. Achieving the desired outcome will directly and indirectly service along with advocating and researching for the beneficiaries of mechanics, cyclists, and the community. This will service the users, audiences, and beneficiaries when it directly addresses the problem of lack of equipment, insufficient bike maintenance, poor organization, poor security, and lack of a structural system. From these problems, I used the problem tree to identify the enduring issues of security and governance challenges caused by economic poverty leading to institutional oppression along with the cultural dynamics that lead to lack of care. These factors lead to the lack of goods, technology, and education that lead to dependency on support. Our success criteria aim to address these issues when includes having and advanced security system, efficient use of space, increased education opportunities, systemized maintenance, and increased knowledge and skills. We set up these success criteria according to how it contributes to the enduring issue. We used precedents and references such as the visit to a local bike shop to find out techniques and equipment required for our design outcome. We found out about how organizing tools into stations and placing commonly used tools closer to the repair station are great ways to address the situation awareness of organization. Our success criteria also address the problems and enduring issues we found that the users and beneficiaries were facing when it solves or alleviates the pressure of these issues, so it meets the user’s needs. Our success criteria of building these facilities addresses the mechanic’s need of power to access repair facilities. According to the power and ability diagram, the mechanics are capable of repairment. However, Uganda lack in repairment facilities and awareness of organization causes less power for these mechanics to apply their skills. Our success criteria of the workshop addresses these of our user’s need. The toolbox would be easy to move, but the whiteboard was stationary. I iterated these ideas and created new ideas. First, I decided to incorporated the idea of a folding workbench because it would promote space efficiency. Then, I changed the storage drawers idea to a portable book bag so it can be stored in the workshop to reduce the threat of theft. Finally, I combined the idea of having a whiteboard with the toolbox by having the whiteboard on one side and a pegboard tool rack on the other side.     I created a user manual successfully for the community work area. It includes the components that I stated in the plan such as the step by step tutorial, product description, and norms list. This meets my success criteria when it clearly states the rules and expectations when the user is occupying the work area. The overview clearly explains each product in the community work area. It creates a high security environment when it clearly guides the user through using the area and prevents confusions that can conflict with the work of the MCC. Since the user guide meets my success criteria, it addresses the enduring issue of unclarity.

I have incorporated a design that addresses my enduring issue which is lack of education and expertise in repair fields. My course comparison connects to this when it uses research to service the MCC to find a course that is suitable for the situation of Uganda. I used research to find a course that can improve education in bike mechanic fields for mechanics of MCC to get improved education. It meets my success criteria of having a description of costs and benefits and a comparison. This is a strength of my design as I have evaluated the 2 courses and gave a recommendation. My community workshop area section also meets my success and address the enduring issue. The materials and direct services that I designed offers opportunity in bike repairing fields for the community. It meets my success criteria of creating an environment that optimizes learning when the materials and whiteboard offered can create educational opportunities for the community. It enables increased knowledge and skills for the community through practice and operating the work area. The community can access the materials for help and operate the work area for increased bike repairing skills. My timetable and user guide meets my final success criteria of having a secure and safe environment for both the MCC and the community. The user guide creates clarity for the community, so they are aware of expectations, rules and usage of different materials. This improves security and fluency by preventing the community from confusion and interfering with the MCC. The timetable also creates a safer environment to eliminate confusion. The timetable helps the community understand when they are allowed in the area, so they don't interfere with the MCC when it is closed to the community.

My product meets my success criteria. However, there are certain areas I covered more than others. I did well on covering most of the areas, but I could focus more on increasing knowledge and skills. If I had more time, I could contribute to this by creating lesson plans for coaches to train their trainees. I could create plans for on the job training and instructor led training. Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to include this in my design. Ultimately, I focused on the other success criterias more.

My community workshop area offers educational opportunities to those in need for free. It uses the privilege of the MCC organization of having a bike workshop to create opportunities for the community. This alleviates institutional oppression by giving opportunities to those that might not be able to afford services. Additionally, the security and clarity measures of the timetable and user guide combats interpersonal oppression preventing conflicts and theft. I designed the community workshop area as indirect service to the MCC. The community workshop area directly impacts and service the community. It impacts the community when it addresses my enduring issue of lack of education opportunities. My product offers opportunities for increased knowledge with education opportunities from the materials I offered. My design can have an impact on the environment by combining the whiteboard with pegboard when it saves plastic materials that would be used for a toolbox. The community workshop area impacts the target audience of the coaches and MCC organizers by offering them a design that can support educational opportunities for the community. The community workshop area impacts the user and beneficiary of the community when it meets my success criteria of offering educational opportunities and increased skills and knowledge. The design offers the community power to fix their bikes and learn repairment knowledge for free. It increases privilege for the community, fighting against oppression. This design can impact the designer of the MCC by offering them a clear construction plan and idea to work with. My comparison of courses presentation offers research service for the MCC. This part of my design impacts my target audience of the MCC by creating a clear comparison of the 2 courses and making a recommendation. The research fights institutional oppression of less advanced education courses in Uganda. By researching the costs v. benefits of the foreign advanced mechanic courses, it creates education opportunities for my users/beneficiary of mechanics from the MCC who require advanced training.
