I can use 'ike kūpuna to inform what I do today and provide insight for the future by sharing my moʻolelo in hula. Hula is my life and hula is a very nice way to share moʻolelo. Moʻolelo is shared in a lot of ways but one very popular one is hula. Hula uses ʻike kūpuna by using the knowledge and moʻolelo from my kumu and the writers and composers of the hula.

The reason why we tell moʻolelos is are way of passing down information through generations, we also use moʻolelo to tell stories about our cultural and ancestral ʻike. We also use moʻolelo to store cultural traditions, and skills, that may be a family tradition. Moʻolelo was also used as a way to teach the Lāhui, by explaining the teachings through storytelling. It was also told that moʻolelo was a way that our kūpuna taught different things through generations so that their people and their ohana could thrive, with the knowledge and ʻike of their ancestors. Moʻolelo could also be used as a way to perpetuate the land/ʻāina, we could use moʻolelo to show our people many different ways to help the land grow and thrive so that they could too, culturally uplifting everybody all together. Moʻolelo was also a way of teaching life lessons that our kūpuna lived by, these could be things like living through the land. Which our kūpuna did with everything they did, especially things like ole, pule, and mele, which could also be passed down through moʻolelo. -Cassius.C

There is a lot of reasons why we tell mo'olelo. The reason I think that we tell mo'olelo is to pass on a story and the significance of it, and also to add a little meaning behind something. What i mean is usually when you go to a place in hawaii there is always some kind of menaing behind the place. This can include historical events that happened there or just why it got its name. Another reason I think that is because there is most likely always a significant story in a ohana. That story is usually pasted down, told throw generation and generation. This is the reason why i think we tell mo'olelo's

The reason we tell moʻolelo is because if we donʻt, the stories and experiences of our ancestors will be lost. Also, if we donʻt continue to pass down moʻolelo then the ancient ways of our kūpuna will be forgotten and this means we will slowly be losing our culture. So overall when we tell stories it keeps our culture alive and thriving.

I can use ʻike kūpuna to inform what I do today and provide insight for the future by seeing what worked and what didn't work in the past (the mistakes of our ancestors) and how we can us this information to improve our current and future world, making sure it is in the best possible condition for our people.
