Olga the cloud does the laundry

The initial book reader highlights the word that it is reading and puts it in a bigger font. It helps children understand what word is being read at the moment, which has the option of being turned off. The reader offers different speeds so a child can have the pacing slower or faster, whatever they need for their ability skills. There is also a button to zoom which can help. I like how there is a little quiz option that can be nice for comprehension assessment.

On my chrome and on a windows computer, I get the option for “search google for”. This means it googles the word in a different tab, which might not give the the definition. I googled encounters and it gave me a movie. When I tried the translate button it translates a word to english, however you can’t do english to a different language. The option isn’t there for me. I think this tool is a great idea however, it needs to be updated and refined to be able to use it in the classroom. I think it also may be difficult for younger children.

Voice Typing

I have a microphone and headset at home so my voice typing picks up very well. Sometimes it might have difficulty saying the correct form of a word, for example like four and for. I am used to voice typing so I know that you have to speak your punctuation. I think this tool could be helpful for ages who are learning punctuation or know punctuation.

Google Translate

What I did for this assignment was put a document that I had into google translate and had it translate it to a different language, I picked Japanese. I then downloaded the Japanese document and put it back into google translate for english. It is cool to see how similar yet different the translations can be, I know especially after just coming back from Japan. The voice translate also works very well, that also might be because of my microphone though.
