4. There was never a direct conflict, which is why it is called the Cold War. Stalin was afraid of war with the United States because he didn’t want to lose his power
5. 2. Many cases happened in which people were investigated for fear that they could be communists and be bad for the US
3. There were also big cases  on supposed spies especially in the nuclear field who were giving information to Soviet scientists
4. Joseph R. McCarthy was a man who worked in the Senate and who stated that there were many people in the Senate who were communists, this caught the attention of many Americans and later created a term called McCarthyism
5.
