The policy would result in communication struggles and a less diverse cultural landscape. Students who are English learners would not have accommodations for language support. Students’ backgrounds and cultural aspects would not be reinforced. The students would hide their identities to speak only English.

The positive effect would be that students could increase emphasis on English acquisition and marge into English-speaking environments better.

The school would have fewer diverse perspectives from the students, and struggles to communicate with their families who do not speak English fluently.

The school can benefit if everyone speaks English. Teachers do not have to make any additional language accommodations on top of their lessons. ESOL teachers will be needed for students who speak English as their native language to meet the standard of the curriculum.

Schools should let students speak their native language and actively share their identities. Teachers can create lessons in which students can share their backgrounds and unique experiences. In addition, teachers can provide lessons in different languages and send their families emails and messages in their home language. This creates comfort for students and families to flourish within the schools and community.
