Responsive feeding is connected with Erik Erikson’s psychosocial theory, in the stage of trust vs. mistrust which is zero to 1 year. When caregivers respond to an infant’s needs immediately, the child develops a sense of trust in their environment, that's how secure attachment happens. Bowlby's attachment theory also supports this strategy, explaining how responsive caregiving builds strong emotional bonds, which are essential for emotional and social development. infants who experience responsive caregiving develop secure attachments more often, having a positive impacting for future relationships and emotional resilience.(RD, 2021)
