He used comparisons in their lives to show him that he can relate to someone; he's not alone in what he's experienced. He uses religion to show another person he can turn to for comfort. He uses physical contact in the final test to help him bond with his fathers and brothers; he could feel their heat, heart beat, and muscular tension, which shows him how much their trying. He uses eye contact when talking to him to show him that he is important and heard, rather than if he looked away while talking. He has multiple fathers and brothers so that he knows he has many people to rely on and many who can rely on him. During the final test one of the fathers helped the spiritual mentor to finish his push-up, which showed him that they will support each other. During his tests, his other brothers stayed and watched to support him and afterwards they cheered him on, rather than if they didn't watch or if they told him what he could've done better instead of telling him how great he did. All of this made him feel supported, protected, and not alone.

This is also logical: if I can do it, so can you type thinking.
Another appeal that is logical is how his close family have taken the place of his father in the absence of his father. They brought you up like fathers, so then they are your fathers.
He also uses religion as an emotional appeal. Through this, he shares how God is always there for him.
Through the push-ups it is seen that the people around him will always be with him through thick and thin, quite literally. In this credibility and logical appeal he is presenting forth how the people are there, the credibility, and the logic that a father would do anything, like a bunch of push ups with their kid on their back.

He can relate to him, while both of them are in different stages of their life, he is able to make the kid feel like he isn't alone. Shared experiences like an absent father is a way he was able to get the kid to become aware that he is not alone. He uses vocabulary to entice and motivate the kid into noticing that he has father figures all around him. Father figures in his brothers, in his friends and mentors. You could feel the emotional connection that was being created within him and the kid, by being his mentor and finding ways to initiate him without needing his biological father present. The kid possibly felt accepted and welcomed. He was able to recognize the people who can support him in replacement of his father.
