Script Supervisor, Offline Editor : River City

_{Aug - September:}

Attending various production meetings to discuss roles and expectations. Discussed various ideas on where to shoot, which equipment to use, meeting actors and discussing the script with them. Lots of practise in the group with setup and take down of equipment and scene shooting.

October:

Prepping for the shoot, filling out paperwork and tramlining scripts ready to use on shoot day.

08/10 : Production meeting recorded for paperwork.

November:

Final production meeting held. Scripts tramlined and printed to distribute to crew. Uploaded all SS paperwork to group padlet. Transport of equipment arranged. Additional practise with setting up and taking down all equipment. Additional practise of utilising the camera and sound equipment, and trying out tracks for camera. Ready for filming to take place on November 6th and then we go into Post Production ROles.

Day of shoot, i was responsible for transporting equipment to and from the shoot via car. I provided scripts, both tramlined and regular, for both director, camera op, aswell as extras for the actors to rehearse and annotate. I timed each take and noted down times and quality of each shot. I was also responsible for ensuring continuity from each shot so that the scene would flow well together in post. Uploaded the rushes to harddrive once we returned to college.

POST: arranged footage into avid and edited the scene to the requirements of the script. Submitted to sound editor

August - September:

Discussing in the group locations for the shoot, as well as various limitations with outside shooting and requirements, such as power outlets, weather, sound issues etc. Attending various production meetings, where we discussed equipment needed, and techniques we could try for camera to achieve the desired shots.

October:

Meeting with actors and explaining scenes and what is expected of them, how we will communicate and travel to and from the shoot, discussing roles with makeup artists.

Location scouting to try find suitable places to match the brief that are also acceptable to work in with the sound equipment

November:

5th, Still need to finalise location details. Will arange a production meeting to catch up with everyone and see what paperwork etc is still needed for the shoot once river city is finished filming. Have started on directors paperwork for this scene.

Paperwork almost completed and production meeting arranged.

20th, Production meeting held with half the crew and all actors and makeup artist. Everything to be confirmed by next day but most things in place. Equipment is all booked today, actors are aware of costuming needs. Paperwork is to be completed and submitted by the weekend. Will have a crew only production meeting on Monday to finalise everything. Transport to and from location is arranged, makeup artist is up to date with what she needs. Weather could be an issue due to outdoor shoot but arrangements in place to counter it.

25th, No production meeting as not enough crew. Called a new location last night to arrange to shoot in their courtyard and they have agreed. Weather is to be dry. Everything is back on track for wednesday. Will have a chat on whatsapp with the crew to finalise everything tomorrow before the shoot to minimise the number of problems that could arise. Sound may be an issue due to the location being in town but tbc. Will need to organise a new padlet as the current one will not let us upload any paperwork to it individually.

27th, DAY OF SHOOT:

Everything went well. Makeup took longest at just over 3hrs for two actors. Walked to our shoot location and set everything up. Everyone was helpful in getting there own things ready and offering to help others. We had the monitor set up properly this time, which as director was a huge help. Got through the shots fairly quickly with no real issues other than traffic ruining the skund on some takes. Got the rushes onto everyones harddrives too. Evrryone took direction very well and it all went smoothly, which honestly was surprising.

Post:

Edit assistant was easy enough. Everything synced up properly and the footage wad easy to arrange and label. Sat with offline edit also, to help put shots in the correct order. Happy with the final product, however woukd change the shaky cam shots to always have a tripod backup just incase.

Discussed this with lecturer, who provided feedback on ideas on specific topics and people to research further to enhance my essay. This was very helpful as i struggled to find sources/ a place to start.

Decided to go down the news route, and submitted a question that my essay would answer

Wrote a research proposal and researched sources via onlne and books, that could support my argument.

Given our groups and positions within them. Also given our topic areas of interest which are: culture, food, immigration, and music.

The sub categories were devised amongst the group, with each person responsible for acquiring various vts, guests for the show etc. Emailing various possible leads for who we could interview.

08/10: More emailing and reaching out to potential guests with no luck.

November:

Started brainstroming ideas for a script. Trying to come up with a realistic premise that can be shot and have the story told within a 10 minute time constraint which is proving to be difficult. I have an idea for characters and plot ideas, but keeping things condensed and simple enough to meet the criteria is challenging me. Writing a treatment and preparing to write a full script.

5/11 : Full treatment written which includes themes, concept, breakdown of the film with some important shots needed and what editing techniques to use to achieve certain effects in important points of the story, as well as important visuals. Treatment submitted. Beat sheet written and will be submitted by end of day.

Feedback on treatment received and actively working on rewriting the script to better accomodate feedback and provide a better storytelling of the work.

5/11 Treatment written a submitted. Essay introduction started and researching sources underway
