He could not stay in the same hotels that his teammates were staying in and he could not eat at the same restaurants with his teammates. The prejudice also encouraged fans to throw things at him and yell hateful phrases. </div>]]></description>

He accomplished many personal goals including becoming the first African American in the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962. Robinson also published his autobiography, I never Had It Made, in 1972, and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He also helped move toward societal goals in his work with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored people (NAACP), as he became a spokesman for the group, and worked with Martin Luther King Jr.    </div>]]></description>
