This picture serves as an example for the child labour tht significantliy increased during the industrial revolution. There were a lot of new factorys and therefore a need for workers. Children were good employers, cause you could pay them less than. They also were less likely to organize and strike against the bad working conditions they had to face.

In the 19th century, rivers and railways were primarily used to transport goods to factories and finished products from factories to warehouses and traders. Some rivers, such as the Thames, Severn and Trent served as transport routes for goods relative to the beginning of the industrial revolution, as they could be navigated without conversion work. Trains around that age had previously been pulled by horses until the first steam trains went into operation around 1810, making the transport of goods faster and easier. (Jan)
