As my school is a European school within the EU we've got plenty of activities, workshops and classes on European cross cultural items and themes.
We work with many of the other European schools, there are 14, and we plan harmonised exams for our subjects.
These harmonised exams are intimately linked to the curriculum no matter what you teach but all mother tongue teachers and second and third language teachers work together with the exams. It's a lot of bureaucracy but inspiring.
We have exchanged between the European schools so our students can study in other European schools fro a semester or at least 5 weeks.
Last year I had a workshop with my younger students, 11-13 years. We read three books about two sisters in Mozambique. After finishing the reading the students took initiative to helping children in Mozambique. We decided to bake cinnamon buns at school and we raised 400 €. After that we decided to donate the money to UNICEF. Then we learned about mathematics for instance. How many litres of water can you get from the water tablets that UNICEF sells.
It was so rewarding!
After this bakesale other groups in the school did the same thing. Our group just handed over the concept.
Mona

There are many International activities going on at my school. Among others there are: a Chinese Day and Chinese Classes. Every week 3 groups of students meet for 45 minutes for studying Chinese with native speaker. The classes include Culture and language. Children get to know about Chinese Opera, traditional food, Olimpics, Chinese Zodiacs and facts about China! It's very exciting especialy when you coordinate it.

In my school we often invite students volunteers to lead classes, do presentations about their countries. They have classes every day for two weeks or for one month. They talk about their country, sing regional songs or play the music. They sometimes teach some arts and crafts, and talk about their own experiences. I liked the idea of being a language expert of a country which was chosen for a class and they changed roles after one week.

It's good that we finally have a template to share within the school and to connect all subjects and teachers within the term School internationalization. We can have an insight to other subjects and activities which are already done at the school and finally have a wider picture.
In that way we can see our strenghts and weaknesses, self reflect on our work and make progress.
