Number of electoral votes, and a percentage that demonstrates the relative value of a vote cast in that state compared to the national average. For example, on average a state is awarded one electoral vote for every 565,166 people. However, Wyoming has three electoral votes and only 532,668 citizens (as of 2008 estimates). As a result each of Wyoming's three electoral votes corresponds to 177,556 people.

The 2000 Presidential Election Is one that lives on in infamy for it's complex and unpredictable nature. The results were so close the world watched as the american election system was stretched to its limit. At the end of the day the entire election came down to the state of Florida which would be decided by 517 votes. It wasn't until December 12th, 2000 that the recounts in Florida ended and we knew George W. Bush was going to be our next president. Looking from the math perspective, this election was a rare one in the fact that the winner of the popular vote did not end up winning the electoral vote for just, at the time second but now third, time in U.S history.
