         <title>Photosynthesis Overview</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Photosynthesis is the process in which plants convert the light energy of the sun into chemical energy found in glucose (C6H12O6). The location of photosynthesis is specifically in the thylakoids and stroma of chloroplasts. The light reactions take place in the thylakoids. In this process, chlorophyll capture light energy from the sun and they oxidize water into oxygen. The electrons captured from the oxidation of water is then used to move the electron transport chain and reduce NADP+ into NADPH and also phosphorylate ADP + P into ATP. These two molecules are then sent to the Calvin cycle which takes place in the stroma. In the Calvin cycle, CO2 is constantly being reduced by NADPH and ATP to create glucose. The three main steps of the Calvin cycle are carbon fixation, reduction, and regeneration of ribulose. In summary, plants take in light energy, 6H20 (water), and 6CO2 (carbon dioxide) to make C6H12O6 (glucose) and 6O2 (oxygen).</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The purpose of this experiment is to test how different wavelengths  (light colors) affect the rate of photosynthesis in spinach chads. In order to do this, the air molecules are taken out of the spinach chads by creating a vacuum using a syringe. Once the air is taken out of the leaves, they will drop to the bottom of the beakers containing water with CO2, and the rate of photosynthesis will be tested by seeing how fast all 10 spinach chads rise to the top of the water. This happens because the oxygen produced by the leaves during photosynthesis causes the leaves to float.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My hypothesis was accepted. For example, in trial 1, the rate of photosynthesis in green light was 83% slower than the rate of photosynthesis in regular room light. Also in trial 2, the rate of photosynthesis in green light was 53% slower than the rate of photosynthesis in regular room light. In contrast, in the last trial, the rate of photosynthesis in green light was 72% faster than the rate of photosynthesis in regular room light. Overall, the average rate of photosynthesis in green light was 47% slower than the average rate of photosynthesis in regular room light. As a result from the three trials, we can conclude that green light does slow down the rate of photosynthesis in spinach leaves.</div>]]></description>

         <title>What does ET50 have to do with the experiment?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>ET50 was the time it took for five of the spinach chads to rise to the surface of the water. In trial 1, the time for the chads to rise in green light was 0 minutes and 0 seconds while in regular room light it took 5 minutes and 1 second. In trial 2, it took the chads 3 minutes and 9 seconds to rise in regular room light, but it took 6 minutes and 52 seconds for the chads to rise in green light. In the last trial, the data was reversed and it took 4:56 for the chads to rise in green light while it took 5:39 in regular room light. The average ET50 for green light was 5:54 and 4:36 for regular room light. We can see that it took longer for five chads of spinach to rise in green light vs. in regular room light. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Some errors in this experiment could have occurred while calculating, measuring, or trying to get the spinach chads to sink to the bottom when creating the vacuum. In order to fix these problems, we should double check our calculations and measurements and also make sure that the spinach chads successfully sink to the bottom without damaging their chloroplasts.</div>]]></description>
