Some important skills that we learned in this class is learning how to find legitimate and credible sources, as well as researching skills. Take advantage of the library website for finding primary and secondary sources! Analytical and writing skills are also something you work on a lot in this class and we definitely developed these skills more. The best pieces of advice we can give are to show up consistently to class and start your homework as soon as you get it to get it done! Don't stress about the workload too much either, it looks like a lot but it's not bad. Something we'd do differently if we redid the class is to not procrastinate (specifically on unit reflections and LRA projects).

For writing assignments, the most valuable skill I learned is to be able to create your own thesis statement and defend it with evidence and arguments. The prompt you are assigned is not what you are responding to directly, but discussing with your thesis statement.

For time management, I found that narrowing down your work to what is absolutely essential is an important step in the outlining process. Establishing what needs to be done and learning to outline your projects enables you to build a schedule and be productive.

If I had to do this class again, I would read through my sources and gather quotes as I do the LRA assignments so that they are ready to go as the final essay begins.

The most important skill for this class is to just stick to a routine and stay on top of your work. Another one that is very beneficial is using the resources that are there to help you. Reaching out to the teacher and getting assistance can be very helpful. For advice, make sure you stay on top of your work and maybe even do it in advance so you don't have big projects to do last-minute. If I had to do it over again, I would have followed the advice I just gave.

The annotation assignments improved our skills on going through texts and figuring out what was important. The LRA assignments were also really helpful in the writing of the essay.
Don’t procrastinate with your homework and assignments. Make sure you actually show up to class especially if it has participation points. Stick to plan of breaking up assignments so you are not overwhelmed on one day trying to do it all.

Learned a lot about how important communication is. LRA's can be stressful but not if you stay in touch through email and office hours. Another skill I learned/developed through this class is perseverance. Just because you mess up at first doesn't mean you should give up, everything in this class is fixable.
Some advice I would give is to go to office hours if you need help, communicate with your TA, and go to the library when class is held there and pay attention. Use that time to ask a lot of questions and get help because that's the best place to develop your research question.

The weekly readings really help to create a schedule, like they were intended to do. They helped me not forget about them, and when there was multiple sources, it helped to spread out the work over a few days instead of all in one, like doing a few annotations per day, then it doesn't take that much time per day.

The relevance of everything as well helped a lot. If you actually read the readings it will help a lot with reflection writing assignments! There really isn't that much homework for this class, so if you stay on top of it, and actually pay attention it's not that hard, and you can use skills you learn for every assignment.

If i had to do it all again, I would probably procrastinate less, and organize my homework time more.

The LRA workshops were really helpful. Understanding how to set aside time for projects and other assignments are super important for success. The second skill we learned was to dig deeper into the readings to make sure you fully understand what you are studying. As well as showing up to class! Strategies that we thought were helpful is breaking up big projects into little sections. If we had to do it all over, we would set timelines for all of our assignments not just the big ones that way we don't procrastinate.

Some important skills we learned this semester is critical reading, and analyzing the sources, as well as improving our researching skills. This class has also taught us about spacing out our work since the LRA's are time consuming.
Attendance is very important in this class. Lots of valuable information is given out during class, as well as points, and its key to get those. Also make sure you try to start the LRA's early, the workload seems daunting, but it'll be much better if you don't start it right before the due date. Professor Dodson offers lots of help and opportunities to ask questions, so make sure to take advantage of that and ask for help if you need it.

1.) Some skills we learned were how to navigate the library website and we learned how to do footnotes/Chicago style citations.

2.)Choose a topic that isn't to broad and isn't to niche for you LRAs. Lastly, show up to class and participate because it is a way of getting free points to improve your grade.

Important skills learned in this class were mainly how to take in information when reading books, articles, etc. The source annotations helped me develop this skill and were pretty entertaining to read. Along with that they helped me figure out how to make meaningful annotations and identify bias.
Advice for HIST 105 (and other classes in general) are starting your assignments early. You don't have to finish them right away, but just getting started helps ease the workload. Sitting up front also helps a lot. Overall if I were to redo this class I would definitely work on my assignments part by part instead of all at once.

The skills I learned was how to use Chicago citations, and foot note citations. The advice I would give is that you should make sure to work on your assignments well before the due data and not right before it. If I could do this over again, I would work on assignments sooner and not cram it all in on one day
