The muckrakers threw light on the true soiled power beneath philanthropy. By writing exposés on urban corruption formulated by monopolies, people such as the writer of The Shame of the Cities,  Lincoln Steffens, identify the unlawfulness of the oil companies and meatpacking industry aroused in the Gilded Age. These pieces of writing caused a drastic flipping of perception of philanthropy within society. This correlates to BAGPIPE through a portrayal of efforts to shift the Belief Systems of many Americans, while clarifying the ideas of members belonging to broad networks of corruption. Similarly, 21st century Mukracker Julian Assange, hacked into the databases of many high profile organizations, and began to share the confidential information belonging to the databases. In result, Assange used scandalous knowledge to gain support, as he then became the founder of WikiLeaks. Comparatively, the mukrackers used their knowledge to climb up a social latter, influencing the people of society the way Julian Assange did. 

Secondly, the Progressive Era renovated the Gilded Age's social past by it's creating of the National Association of the Advancement of Colored People. This group set out on the quest for racial justice, as the Gilded Age provided many aspects of injustice such as the Jim Crow Laws, and the lynching of coloreds, while increasing the ability to segregate blacks and whites. Through it's booming voice against lynching, the NAACP gained an immense amount of support and recognition in the Progressive Era. To be specific, the NAACP brewed up a protest against lynching called the Silent Protest Parade. This silenced parade was the group's big break, as it clenched the attention of many, as the advocating of anti-lynching spread throughout the nation. This group signified BAGPIPE through social identity, in efforts to carve out a new identification for the black race, in order to grant social justice that should have been in place long before the Progressive Era. This movement battled against the Gilded Age's failure to grant women a say in politics, as well as suffrage. The movement's greatest success lied in the Progressive Era, as the Feminists tore their way to the right to vote, the Nineteenth Amendment, in 1920. This solved a mass amount of the restless protest and reform practiced by women in the Gilded Age, defining the Progressive Era as a monumental time for the female. This theme relates to BAGPIPE through it's sense of demand for authority, rights and citizenship for the woman within the Politics and Power region. The woman was now entitled to the right to have a counted, if not valued, say in politics, leaving her the same political opportunity regarding suffrage as the man. In the spirit of allowing more and more Americans to vote, the 26th Amendment was passed in 1971, allowing anyone of the age of 18 or above to vote. Both the nineteenth and twenty sixth amendments broadened the number of people who were allowed to vote, making America a progressively(get it?) more abundant land of political opportunity. 

Secondly, William Howard Taft, president during the Progressive Era, refuted the corruption of the 16th Amendment during the Gilded Age by heavily enforcing it. This newfound trend of the restoring of authority in the Progressive Era immensely solved the unbalanced distribution of power throughout America.The 16th amendment was one regarding The Congress' right to collect taxes from citizens' income. However, during the Gilded Age, men of philanthropic backgrounds and monopoly challenged this by having more economic authority than our government, while dodging their tax duties pertaining to the 16th amendment. This act correlates with BAGPIPE in the way that Taft's act of reinforcing the 16th Amendment redefined the meaning of authority/power in America. In the spirit of restoring order, President Trump just recently restricted the citizens of 7 Muslim-majority countries, in efforts to stabilize the muslim influence on the American people. Inspired by Muckraker Upton Sinclair's book The Jungle, which advocated for awareness of the disorder of America's meatpacking factories, Roosevelt enforced a new array of acts in order to tighten up the economy. First, Theodore Roosevelt urged the Meat Inspection Act, which allowed the inspection of meat packing factories and created federal standards for the factories. Second, he enacted the Pure Food and Drug Act, which required all processed food and drugs to possess ingredient labels. These actions set standards for the monopolies of the economy, which were freely producing and benefiting by their own rules. This example of change through the Progressive Era relates to BAGPIPE through the economic aspect of the manufacturing and industrialization aspects of the economy, through Roosevelt's efforts to revitalize their boundaries.
