  • Une légende raconte que Shah Jahan voulait construire un Taj Mahal noir pour sa propre tombe, mais il a été emprisonné par son fils avant d’y parvenir

  • La couleur du marbre change selon la lumière du jour : il est rose au lever du soleil, blanc éclatant à midi et doré au coucher du soleil

  • Les ouvriers auraient eu les mains coupées après la construction, pour éviter qu’ils ne reproduisent une œuvre aussi magnifique ailleurs (mais cette histoire est probablement une légende !)
