A tropical savanna climate is a:

1) Wet and dry climate
2) Has a longer dry season - 3 months or longer
3) Less rainfall than in rainy seasons
4) Total annual rainfall is from 1000-1050mm or (40-60 inches)
5) The dry season can become severe
6) Some months have no rainfall
7) There are often drought conditions throughout the year

    Temperature - since they are usually found in the water they prefer a water temperature of 64° to 95° Fahrenheit. With global warming hippos' bodies aren't good at handling very hot weather or very cold weather. As these weather changes are becoming more common, hippos should adapt to these changes and prepare themselves for this weather.

    Water - They spend about 70% of their day in water one reason being to be protected from the sun and for their skin to be moist and cool.

    Rocks - stand and push off them when underwater to glide

    Biotic Factors:

    Humans - Population growth has caused a loss of habitat for the hippos. There is not a distinct solution for this yet but some solutions have included forced migration. 

    Crocodiles - Crocodiles share the same habitat as hippos. They are the largest predator to them. When baby hippos are feeding on shore and their mothers are gone, crocodiles are known to surprise attack baby hippos. To avoid these attacks mother hippos are likely to always be with their babies. 

    Grass - the majority of hippos' consumption is made up of grasses and nutrient-rich fruits. 

    Leaves: another food hippos enjoy eating is leaves.

Hippos are primarily herbivores and mostly eat short grass and fruits. But, scientists have spotted hippos eating Impalas, other animals, and even other hippos at points.  If hippos do eat impalas, they could be on the third trophic level (secondary consumers) because impalas then eat grass shoots. The food chain could look something like this:              Grass shoots → Impalas → Hippopotamus. That same foundation is also working to create more and improve protected spaces. Infrastructures of parks especially near small bodies of water, is a critical habitat for hippos and many other animals. 
    Also, some general ways to help endangered species are, to reduce and reuse, not use harsh chemicals in your household, dispose of waste properly, prevent soil erosion, maintain a healthy backyard habitat, support organizations committed to helping endangered species and advocate for conservation.

Without hippos on human farmland, humans have less of a chance of killing them for being their land or killing them to eat them. Giving hippos more protected land, decreases the chances of them not having access to the sources of food it needs. If they are given a protected area with water, that would be perfect, so that there could be less water pollution, which is another one of the main reasons hippos are endangered.
