Culture is so important to a diverse classroom to promote accepting and well rounded students. Students who are uninformed about other cultures rely on stereotypes to guide their viewpoints. This article details how to teach a tolerant classroom, including honoring home languages, as well as why it is so important we do.

Reader's Theater is a great way to use new vocabulary in a story the student's can act out! For Reader's theater, read through your script, underline new vocabulary, and then review what these words mean. Then, have the students read the script again considering which part to play. At the end, stand students up and put them in groups to act out the script! It's a great way to support creativity and collaboration!
