Looks like you are off to a good start.

One of your sources showed how to use format guidelines for lab reports. If you used that as part of your project your research question could be "How will using format guidelines for chemistry lab reports affect the quality of reporting and writing?"

A source discussed using a lab report checklist. If you wanted to include that as part of your project it could also be used as the research question.

As an English teacher, I would suggest that you do not investigate

argumentative writing. This is really persuasion where the author

includes a counter claim to help support his claim.

Your students would probably benefit more from rubrics and

organizational techniques for expository writing. You might also look

at research techniques and what is a reliable source.
