Like you I am surprised that middle school students don't actually have much autonomy in practice even though we all acknowledge that they need more of it. I think it is so great that many of your students embraced this strategy and are using it independently now. Definitely something that you can continue to implement now

I am also learning to “take a step back in the classroom”. Sometimes I find it challenging for the age group I teach because they are so young and some tasks take them a long time. At first, everyone was focused on the physical circle space and not its intended purpose.
